The wild roses are out!

They are so bright and cute! Lovely little spots of colour popping up everywhere.
Have a great weekend. 🙂

A dramatic northern summer sunrise …

… accentuated by the short distance it travels at this time of year.
I’m not far enough north for “midnight sun” but our twilighty darkness only lasts about five hours.
Greetings from the powerful summer sun of the north. 🙂
A night orchid …

… becomes more alluring in its cloak of darkness.
Happy Friday, happy weekend.

… is a special place.
As I continue to work in the Northwest Territories, I always miss it, but it seems that because of the lockdown, now more than ever.
I hope I am able to go this summer, but there are no guarantees.
In a world that seems to be turning in on itself, (or is it just turning on us? Is it human arrogance to think that because humans are suffering, the Earth is suffering?) missing home is a very minor thing, but it’s an important touchstone and foundation for us all, even if home is a backpack.
On this June 1, I wish you all a lovely and safe month with good weather, rain when you need it and no lower back pain. 🙂
This week’s Friday feature is a recent photo of

a broad northern river, slumbering in its tranquil overcast.
The spring has been very slow to arrive this year, even for here, but today showed signs that it’s finally landed.
I ventured out a bit and saw three bears (!) and this pretty view.
Have a good weekend. 🙂
I am missing home. It’s beautiful …

… but then again, home always is.
I am a pilot and love to fly; however, for the most part I’ve had my wings clipped, covid style.
But here’s a few favourite flying photos from the last several months.

Have a great weekend. 🙂
Vancouver Island’s rain forest …

… in a country renowned for its cold and snow,
is a marvellous green reminder
to avoid typecasts and pigeonholes.
Maybe good for pigeons, but not so much for people.
Happy Monday, everyone. Have a good week. 🙂

Lilacs are such common, and, some may say, old-fashioned, flowers.
I think they’re lovely. And the scent! Heavenly. Especially after a rain.
Happy Friday to you! Here in Canada it’s a long weekend, but we won’t be doing anything much except continuing to relearn our appreciation for the simple things.
I hope your week is bright …

… and pink. 🙂
