Could it be that spring is on the way?

I thought so until I found out that robins typically over-winter here in the Okanagan. But I’m ever hopeful …

A couple of days ago, the fog lifted and we were rewarded with a beautiful sunny afternoon.

We decided to go to Skaha Lake at the southern tip of Penticton to enjoy the weather with a walk.

The esplanade was filled with children, dogs, families, young lovers, seniors; everyone, it seems, was enjoying what felt like a genuine spring afternoon.

We had about 14C (57F), no wind and a gentle sun. It was great to loaf along watching dogs and children run around while adults smiled and chatted and enjoyed a relaxing afternoon.

This beach will soon be busy with swimmers, dragon boats, sailors, sand castle builders, picnickers and kite surfers. Hooray for spring!
It has warmed up and as a result an enormous amount of snow came down, so very unusually, it’s piled up everywhere in Penticton.

Because it’s slick, people are not coping well and drivers, in particular, are having issues. That winter driving gene can atrophy badly if it’s not used regularly, unfortunately. These snow piles aren’t what I want to see, though.

This view from a walk of a few days ago is much better. But what will work really well is when I get to see this:

Spring will be very welcome!

A beautiful woodland pond from Harrie Nijland, very serene and calming. Harrie has many lovely nature photos on his blog if you would like to take a look.

Have a rosy Tuesday.
It’s definitely beach time in the Okanagan.

Sun and great weather, lovely walks and comfortable evenings on the deck.

Happy June!
There are some very large carp in Penticton’s Japanese Garden pond.

It has been quite warm at 30°C (86F), so the pond carp are lingering in the shade and around the cooler fountain water – even when there are yummies to be had – so they must be uncomfortable.
Happy Sunday.
They grow profusely in Alberta but are found in many other spots. So pretty.

Happy Saturday.

The water volume in Penticton Creek has slowed, but it’s still higher than usual.
Happy Friday.
