A fiery red maple tree shows off its autumn dress …

… in blazing crimson abandon …

… its leaves like velvet …

… a breathless beauty before the long winter sleep.
Happy Monday.

We have been getting quite a bit of rain lately, which has been terrific for two reasons. First, we’re gradually climbing out of our drought, and secondly, at the higher elevations it’s coming down as snow, which is a good thing for all the skiers and ski resort operators. Our nearby ski mountain, Apex, is apparently developing a good base layer.

As long as we continue to get rain down here in the valley, I’m very happy to welcome the mountain snow, even though driving conditions in the passes become demanding.

No one has ever had to shovel rain out of a driveway!
Happy Sunday.
This creek is very near my home and I cross it frequently.

I find its cool, silvery sound very relaxing at any time of year, but right now that sense is amplified because the bordering trees are yellowing.

I hope your day is relaxed and happy.
I can’t believe it’s November! But here to ease the arrival of the oncoming winter months are some October flowers, still looking fantastic despite the calendar.

Happy Friday.
Walking through the crunchy leaves has been an enjoyable autumn experience accompanied by strong childhood memories of playing in the leaf piles.

I’ve always liked this Bugs Bunny cartoon; another enjoyable childhood memory associated with autumn and Halloween. After all these years, it still makes me laugh.
I hope you have a little chocolate and enjoy the day, perhaps with some crunchy leaves to walk through. And don’t forget, Abracadabra and Hocus Pocus are the magic words. 🎃
There are beautiful sights at any time of year, but autumn always presents us with a fabulous palette.

Happy Wednesday.

During a recent flight there were some amazing cloud formations illuminated by the moon.

These clouds were avoided and we had a smooth, uneventful flight.
Happy Tuesday.
We had quite a windy rain storm pass through …

… which had many birds huddling on the beach …

… but the sun showed up …

… and for a bit it felt like it could be spring.

Unfortunately, that won’t be happening for a while, but it was nice to enjoy the little reversion.
Happy Monday.

‘Golden Glimmers’ …little nuggets poppin’ from the purple…
Golden Glimmers
Here in North America we might be heading into winter, but in Andy’s part of the world, the reverse is true. I hope you take a few minutes to visit his interesting site at Ebb Then Flood by clicking the link above.
