Soon!
Happy Friday.

I feel like seeing some summer, even if it’s only a photo.
Happy Thursday.

Strawberry island is a small island in Tofino’s harbour. You could swim to it. It’s owned by Rod Palm. A very interesting man in his own right. Rod …
STRAWBERRY SEQUENCE
Wayne lives among his four-legged and winged friends in the town of Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Having been there myself, I can attest to the fact that Tofino is one of the most beautiful places on earth. But if you have any doubts, please stop by Wayne’s blog to see his magnificent photography of the area and its beautiful inhabitants.
A couple of views from my walk yesterday morning on Penticton’s KVR Trail.

Happy Thursday. 🙂
The Sylvia Hotel is a Vancouver landmark. Built in 1912 next to the waterfront and Vancouver’s iconic Stanley Park, it was the tallest building in the area and originally contained swanky apartments for the affluent. It became a hotel after World War I.

It went through a short period of decline but was designated as a heritage building in 1975. Since then its fortunes have increased.

After a long walk through Stanley Park it was a great place to stop for some lunch and a break.
Greetings from Vancouver. 🙂

We have taken a little breather to Vancouver. 🙂
Say hi to Annie, probably one of the most adorable bear cubs ever.

Annie decided she wanted to come to Canada, so she waited her turn at the border crossing at Stewart, British Columbia – Hyder, Alaska, and then lined up to be processed by Canada Border Services.
However, poor little Annie didn’t have her papers so she was apprehended for the winter by Northern Lights Wildlife Services.

And a good thing, too. At 10 kilos (21 lbs) Little Orphan Annie is much too small for her age. She was born this spring, somehow lost her mother, and has been trying to find enough to eat ever since. Normally, bear cubs stay with their mothers until they are about 18 months old.
At the wildlife centre, she is apparently doing well with the other rescued bear cubs, and is eating lots and gaining weight.
The full article on this sweet little bear is here.
Welcome to Canada, Annie. 🙂

Have a grape Saturday. 😉

The Okanagan city of Penticton was recently threatened by a forest fire. There were evacuations and many people were on alert.
Through the unceasing efforts of firefighters and pilots, the fire was doused with nearby lake water and is now under control. The alert has ended and everyone is safe.
I wish a quick end to the fires in California and safety to everyone in its vicinity.
Last Monday we arrived at home in the Okanagan after our long drive from Northwest Territories. It was so good to get here after a tough and busy time of it.

Monday greetings from Penticton and the Okanagan Valley. Have a good week. 🙂
