
Alexandra Falls Trail, just outside of Hay River, Northwest Territories is a nice spot to take a break and stretch your legs.
We completed our drive north in two days – glad to be finished!

We left the smoky Okanagan Valley and had a very continuously smoky drive until we reached Jasper National Park …

… where the rain started, lots of it. The atmosphere certainly needed a good cleaning, and I hope this rain was a big help toward dousing some of these wildfires we have.

I am heading to the Northwest Territories, leaving behind my beautiful but smoky Okanagan Valley; we are presently socked in by smoke from a huge fire to the north of us.

I hope some desperately needed rain arrives soon.
More hydrangeas, but I do like them …

… mountain hydrangeas are the least common hydrangea. These have much smaller flowers but the plants are extremely hardy and will survive harsh winters and climates.

And very pretty!

I found these beautifully unusual hydrangeas, blue and cream.

And on the same plant, a much more uniform blue, but with hints of lighter blue on some of the petals.

Hydrangeas are such lovely, interesting plants. 🙂

Very bright and cheery and safely surviving the drought in someone’s private garden.

On the other hand, these were in a public garden and although still pretty, were struggling quite a bit more.

Sometimes, it’s all about conditions outside your control.
