Some of My Favourite …

… photos, that is, from 2024.

January blue hour.
February bluebird – a harbinger of spring?
In March, many hungry ducks …
… and some deer came to town …
… as did spring.
April brought spring flowers …
… of all kinds, including azaleas.
A May visit to Ontario brought us pink dogwood …
… white dogwood …
… and drifts of pretty pink petals everywhere.
In June we visited Iceland and saw this beautiful – and large – waterfall: Gullfoss.
July brought us to the west coast of British Columbia and our visit to Haida Gwaii.
A July Pacific Ocean sunset ..,
… and a juvenile bald eagle scanning the ocean for a delicious meal.
Back home to a lovely August sunset over Okanagan Lake.
In September, a lone sunset paddler …
… and a cloudy day’s end.
October brought ted maple trees …
… while November gave us an elegant swan family …
… and more beautiful autumn reds.
December’s invigorating coolness arrived …
… along with rare but stunning winter sunsets.

Thanks for the memories, 2024. Happy 2025.

January Sun

We were supposed to get some serious overcast accompanied by wet snow over the last few days, but apart from the cloud cover …

… we escaped. We had rain, but it never did get cold enough for any kind of snow.

And then we got this lovely little gift …

… clearing skies and sunshine …

… along with these cute deer who were also enjoying the weather break by lounging in a neighbour’s yard.

Happy Monday.

Rain, Rain, Go Away …

We have some chunky rain – rain with snow crystals – falling at the moment, so I think it’s time for something a little brighter than what I’m seeing outside right now.

Penticton is smothered in a very grey, chilly and rainy overcast.

There definitely will be sights like these again, thankfully.

A late August pond lily.
Wine grapes and blue skies. Do you need much more?
A beautiful late July evening – it was about 40C (104F) that day. Can you feel the heat?
A late June rose.

I enjoyed this little colourful break. I hope you did, too, especially if you’re in the rain or snow zone.

New Year’s Eve 2024

Many thanks to all who have followed, liked or commented over the past year; you have been very much appreciated. I’ve enjoyed our comment-chats, your travels, your gardens, your walks and hikes, your photography, your musings and your thinkings. As the years pile up on this blog, it’s been, and continues to be, a wonderful experience to connect with so many different people from all over the world.

The sun sets on one year …

… and we welcome another.

Happy 2025!

Anniversary

Today is the anniversary of the day we met, which is the one we celebrate rather than our wedding. We were married in Banff on a beautifully sunny August day, but it was mostly a formality …

Canmore’s Three Sisters Mountains; from an April, 2024 visit to Banff and Canmore.

… as we had long since decided that we wanted to be together.

A recent cloud break over Okanagan Lake.

And so the day that we met became the important one. We’re going to Kelowna for a meal in a good restaurant with an overnight stay included – so that we can enjoy a good bottle of wine without concern – ahead of the new year celebrations.

Happy Monday.

Quack!

When it becomes more difficult for our local duck flock to find food, we like to help them a bit with some cooked quinoa. Unlike bread, it’s a healthy choice for them. M recently prepared lots of it in individual bags that we can easily distribute to our duckie friends.

Well organised in a freezer drawer, he has very helpfully labelled it “quack.”

Quackers or not, the ducks love it and aren’t shy about gobbling it down!

I wish you a very duckie day. 😊
