Winter, Winter

How’s this for a winterish picture?

The carp pond has partially frozen, confusing the ducks.

Ummm, I’m supposed to be paddling, right?

I was surprised to see the carp swimming around under the frozen surface. Someone had thrown rocks at the pond’s surface, trying to break the ice, but it’s frozen enough to hold. The fish look surreal under the rocky ice layer!

Wherever you are, I hope you’re staying warm. Happy Thursday.

Weather Buffet

We had a little sun followed by a little cloud followed by a little rain (which in the mountains was snow), so the weather has been very mixed.

A little sun seeps through to shine on one of the lake shores …
… but it quickly recedes …
… and we’re enshrouded again.

It has been very overcast and rainy but I’m very happy to report that we’re still snow-free here in the valley bottom.

Happy December!

Autumn Sun

It has cooled off but we are still getting very comfortable daytime temperatures of 23C or so (73F).

As autumn settles into itself, sitting in the sun is very pleasant, almost somnolent.

Best of all, it’s cooling at night to very nice sleeping temperatures. Opening a window for fresh evening air is such a small but lovely perk.

Happy weekend.

Good-bye Summer; See You Later

Today is the last day of summer; autumn starts tomorrow – in this time zone – at 5:43 a.m. And although I noticed Hallowe’en chocolate for sale yesterday at the grocery store, I’m not about to be directed by marketers into either thinking about autumn or into making any kind of autumnal purchase, especially not when I want to enjoy this gorgeous weather.

I don’t think this looks like autumn. Do you?
Or this, either.

Right now we have beautiful days and cooler nights; a wonderful thing to be enjoyed as long as we can. Autumn will get here!

Happy Saturday.
