Happy Sunday. 🌞

Happy Sunday. 🌞
Activities on the frozen lake are a normal component of winter life in Yellowknife.

Driving, snowmobiling, fishing and living on an ice lake are all experiences very unique to the north.
Happy weekend!
The neighbourhood children like to play on this kid-sized snow mountain that has been pushed there by the snow ploughs.

A helpful trail, carved through the drifts by a snowblower operator, allows them to easily reach it. The problem is that it has really been too cold for them to enjoy it. Today was -33C (-27F) with a windchill of -39C (-38F). Much too chilly for little cheeks, fingers and toes.
Happy Thursday. Stay warm. 🙂
A quick cell phone photo from my walk home yesterday.

It was a brisk one. 😉
The snow collection on my stair railings has continued to grow.

We got an additional dump a few days ago and while the collection suffered some damage during the snow clearance process, they are still more or less intact. The drifts are starting to tilt and lean though, and it’s getting harder to avoid bumping them when shovelling the steps, especially when dressed in so many layers that you can hardly move.
We shall see how much longer they can hold out, especially the pile that’s in the railing corner.
Happy Tuesday. 🙂

The national sport on an outdoor rink.
Happy week. 🙂

Our temperatures have been moving a lot, from -12C (10F) down to -30C (-22F) and often, quite rapidly, as well. Sometimes there’s only a day or two between these extremes.
It’s unusual to have this much change in such a short period, but I like the warmer respites, and at least it has been sunny.
Happy Sunday. 😎

A view over Great Slave Lake from my truck.
Happy Saturday.
At -18C (0.5F), it’s warming up in the north. But that means snow! Today it was coming down like rain.

Spring can’t arrive too soon!
A cozy cabin and warm fire after a day of cross-country skiing, snowmobiling or other outdoor activity is a wonderful thing.

Happy Tuesday. 🙂
