We recently had another very windy day with sustained winds at 70 km (44 mph) and gusts to 90 km (56 mph). It was strong enough to blow down some trees and anything unsecured in your garden might have wound up in Vancouver.
With the wind came a lot of cloud cover and we did get a bit of rain that was whipped along by the gale.
But as evening approached, the wind began to slow and we had a blazing, partially obscured sunset that was visually very stunning.

We’re nearing mid-July and the summer season is hitting its peak.
Penticton Creek is running much slower than it was a month ago …
… when it was moving along quite smartly …
… and looked much more like a river than a creek. The above picture shows one side of the bridge near the empty-point into the lake …
… and this shows the other.
There are other signs of the maturing season, too.
Panicle hydrangeas frequently start blooming in mid-summer …
… and the robin chicks are now indistinguishable from their parents.
Time relentlessly marches on whether we like it or not; there are no stop signs or do-overs …
… so it’s important to be here while we can.

… resulted in some lenticular cloud formation, a beautifully white counterpoint against the blue sky.

We awakened to a very rainy, windy and chilly day in Canmore, Alberta.
The Three Sisters mountains weren’t very visible …
… unless a wind gust provided a bit of clearance.

We are reaching peak flower time for some species, so it’s an excellent time to really enjoy them.

The Three Sisters are a trio of mountain peaks near Canmore, Alberta.
They are a part of the Rocky Mountain range and are frequently climbed although they vary considerably in difficulty.
Before attempting any or all of them, it’s necessary to have the skill and expertise to handle their demands.

About three hours east of Revelstoke, British Columbia, is Banff National Park and Banff townsite.
It’s one of the gems of Canada’s national park system …
… and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed every one of our visits.

Revelstoke is a small city in the valley between British Columbia’s Selkirk and Monashee Mountain ranges.
It’s known for its challenging, vertical drop black diamond skiing in winter, but we were enjoying its summer hiking trails instead.

Some of the pond lilies have started blooming.
Also known as water lilies, they flower intermittently from about the end of June until the beginning of September.
There are yellow varieties, too …
… but no pictures of them yet!
