We are taking a mini-break holiday to Victoria which is on Vancouver Island, an hour-and-half by ferry from Vancouver. We had the most beautiful day for the drive through the mountains and then for the ferry trip.

Happy Thursday.
We recently had a beautiful winter sunset.

The very air around us was enveloped in the loveliest pink hue.

The weather conditions were perfect: a calm lake, snow in the mountains and a beautiful gloaming light …

… bathing a lone duck in a flawlessly rosy reflection.
Happy Tuesday.
The sun starts to go down quite early now. I was out for my regular afternoon ramble and to my surprise – I really shouldn’t have been – saw the sun beginning its sink at 3:22 p.m. Given that we have mountains all around, we are totally dark by about 4:30. My, that really is early!

The sunset felt wintery, too. The thin, veil-like cloud, the slight chill from the wind and the tint of the sunset itself all contributed to that sense.

But it’s November. A little bit of a wait, but I’ll nevertheless soon be counting down to spring!
Happy Saturday.
A thunderstorm passed through, giving us this …

… followed by this …

Happy Monday.
I enjoyed watching these cloud formations …

… as they drifted past, mirroring the light from the setting sun …

… a short time here …

… and on their way again.
Happy Sunday.
Dinner next to the lake at sunset …

… prompted a sense of good fortune and gratitude…

… for our life here.
Happy Thursday.
A couple of days ago, we had a lovely slow rainfall followed by clearing skies.

Later that evening, all traces of inclement weather had disappeared, replaced by a beautifully calm, clear panorama.

Happy Monday.

We have been experiencing very high temperatures of 38C (100.4F) or so over the last week, and our sunsets have been matching those temperatures.

As the sun disappeared behind the mountain, the day finally began to cool a bit as we watched the sky calm into shades of blue before the decent into night.

It was a beautiful summer evening.
Happy Tuesday.
