An Autumn Tone

We have entered a period of beautiful weather: warm, sunny and windless. The lake has been like a millpond.

But there’s something undefinably autumnal about the tone and atmosphere, as if the earth is releasing a long held breath and settling into a comfortable chair before heading into winter. The geese are eating and flocking; the leaves are starting to turn and the very air seems to be drowsing.

It’s time to enjoy this lovely pause.

Happy Friday.

Afternoon Beach Time

It’s nearing summer’s end, but after weeks of very high temperatures and nearby forest fires, the air has for the most part cleared and allowed a little comfortable beach time.

I brought a book with me but I didn’t do much reading.

I watched the boats going in and out of the marina, the kids playing on the sand and in the water, and the ducks stopping by to see if there were some snacks to be had.

It felt very luxurious to be able to just sit and enjoy, relax and not think about anything much.

There is an adjacent park and we walked though it when it was time to head home. It was a thoroughly wonderful afternoon.

Happy Sunday.

A Clear Lake Scene

This morning Okanagan Lake was much more visible and the sky considerably cleaner. Officials are describing the forest fires in our area as “held,” which means they are under control and on their way to being completely extinguished.

Clear air.

We saw some smoke later in the day but it was comparatively little and indicated that the fire crews have made tremendous progress. It’s such wonderful news!
