It’s beginning to be a little springy …

… with green fronds pushing through the dry leaves from last year …

… and the cherry tree buds making themselves known …

… including a close-up …

… while the sun begins to warm the earth.
Happy Friday 13th. 🍀

Beautiful photos of the natural world on the cusp of change … and how we long for the warmth and colour of Spring!

Thank you very much, Annika. I certainly do, even though this region of Canada has had a very easy winter!

Wild to start seeing some new growth start to appear! All we have is snow. Lots and lots of snow on the ground!

It is but then I looked back at last year and saw that I had photos of the budding cherry trees only slightly later, just a week. Central Canada has certainly taken a snowy, cold and stormy walloping this year – I wish you a sunny and warm weather turnaround, Linda.

So nice to see the first stirrings of spring Lynette, even if they are a ways away here. Although, I have spotted some pussy willows and a few leaves opening too early. Our highs of -13 next week will nip that in the bud, I am sure. Happy Friday. Allan

Thanks, Allan. They literally will be nipped in the bud, unfortunately. I remember that happening when I lived in Medicine Hat. A chinook would come through in February or March, raise the temperatures to +12 for several days and plants and shrubs would start to bud. Then temperatures would fall again. You have to be a tough plant to get through that! Sorry to hear that you’re looking at -13 again. Ugh. Our sunshine break is over and we’re back to overcast and rain, but it’s not cold at least.

Beautiful photos! I wish that humanity was as peaceful as nature…

Thank you very much, John. 😊 Nature just does what it does, while humanity employs all kinds of nefarious behaviours, unfortunately.

Nice. We are heading out to Victoria the end of March. I am very excited to see how springy it will be then.

It will definitely be gorgeous. I have family there and visit often. The cherry blossoms will be over but everything else will be growing and blooming. It’s a fantastic time to visit!

I love these first signs of spring. We saw some crocuses in bloom the other day while on our walk; there’s hope! Lovely photos, Lynette.

Thank you, Tricia. 😊 How great! I haven’t seen any crocuses yet but I figure it won’t be long now. In the meantime, we have rain again with snow in the mountains.
