We have a lot more rain coming our way in the form of another water-logged front and while out walking it was clear to me that it was on its way. The occasional breeze ruffled the lake’s surface but it was otherwise very calm and smooth with the blue-grey overcast gathering quickly.

There are lots of warnings about heavy rainfalls with the possibility of landslides in the mountains, so I think I’m just going to stick around here where it might be soggy but it’s 12C (53.6F) and as long as I have rain gear I’m fine.

The ducks don’t mind this at all, though. Bring on the rain, they quack!

For them, rain is a terrifically good thing and they can’t understand why we humans would like things to be a little drier.

Nevertheless, wherever you are, I hope you have a very duckie Monday, rain or not.
Not sure I’d like to come back in the next life as a duck, but it could be useful. Happy Monday, Lynette xx

Haha. 🙂 Me either. Although on second thought the ducks here are sort of like community pets, so the living conditions are pretty good. 😉

Right now you have it warmer than we do in northern Texas. Nice mallard duck photos.

Thank you very much, Thomas. It’s interesting that we’re warmer than you are! The coast and our valley here are the warmest places in the country right now as the rest is in a deep freeze or full of snow or both!

Yes it is funny. I also just noticed that we are colder than northern Sweden. I am worried about the tomato plants in our backyard. The tomatoes for the second fall harvest are still all green even though they are big enough. It is too early to pick them.

The weather patterns are becoming so disrupted and climate change (aka us) is continuing to cause so much damage. Good luck with your tomatoes. I hope they come through okay for you, Thomas.

Yes you are right Lynette, and thank you for your well wishes for our tomatoes

Rain….is nice in April and May. Perhaps not bad in winter in your area if it is not an atmospheric river. Weather a duck could love for sure. We have had freezing rain here 5 times already this fall, including yesterday. Up to +5 today. Great for my furnace repair. Have a duckie Monday Lynette. Allan

Thanks! Agreed, Allan. We’re apparently much over the regular rainfall for this point in the year. At least we’re not flooding and it’s also quite warm. But my, so overcast. Definitely duck weather. This morning one was nonchalantly waddling along a downtown sidewalk. I hope all goes well with your furnace repair!

Ducks are so cute; I love their little waddle. I’ll have to put on my rain gear today too when I head out for a walk. Happy ducky Monday, Lynette!

Thank you very much. 🙂 You’re going from snow to rain? I bet that will be a slushy experience! But I always find that if I have the right clothes and especially footwear then I’m good. I love the ducks too. They really are cute. Cheers.

We haven’t had any snow yet; in fact, it’s been quite warm.

No matter the weather, if you’re dressed for it it’s not that bad. Just ask the ducks 😊. Lovely skies and duck photos!

Thank you very much, Belinda. 🙂 I agree completely. In the north I had a great parka and here I have great rain gear. Yes, the ducks definitely know! This morning it was pouring again and I watched a little waddler making his way along a downtown sidewalk! Cheers.

Hopefully the rainfall isn’t as bad as what they’re predicting. Stay safe out there. The ducks don’t seem to mind!

Thanks, Linda. Highway One was closed because of landslides (burnt trees were washing out) and we definitely had a lot more rain, but it did slow enough to ease the evacuations. Climate change at work, in my opinion. The ducks are definitely enjoying it, for sure!

Thank you very much for the ducky pictures. What breed of ducks are these?

You’re welcome. These are mallard ducks, very common around here. They’re very placid, gentle ducks. 😊

Thank you very much, Anneli. Yesterday morning it was raining (as usual) and I saw a drake waddling along the sidewalk looking like he had business at the end of the block! They very much do enhance our lives. 😊

Nice of so many of them to stick around all year, and others who are traveling through are great to see too.

Yes, it definitely is. We have quite a large resident flock and it’s fun to see them looking for food along with the quail or other types of ducks that might be around such as the mergansers.
