The swollen creeks and rivers are sending a lot of water into the lakes.

At present this creek looks like a river; it’s moving swiftly and delivering a lot of snow melt to Okanagan Lake. Normally it’s just a very somnolent trickle.

All that water from the many creeks and rivers is elevating the lake’s levels, a wonderful thing after the previous three years of drought conditions. This is leading to amazingly explosive growth …

… everywhere!

Happy Monday.
It’s been the same here. Everywhere is bursting with life xx

Water is the stuff of life. It has been mostly dry here in Victoria, except for one day. Back home, I hear my area is finally getting rain. We need all we can get. I wish for you a summer with enough rain and fewer wildfires Lynette. Happy Monday. Allan

It sure is and today we’re getting buckets more that’s also falling as snow in the passes. I think Victoria is supposed to get a few days of rain toward the end of the week. Good to hear that you’re getting rain at home, too. Thanks for the good wishes, Allan. I hope the entire country has a low fire risk this summer. Cheers.

My sis has a creek running through the forest on her land. It’s lovely in Spring, and then dries up.

It’s good to have enough water, and in such a pretty setting – all the better.

Agreed, Anneli. So much of this area’s economy is based on agriculture and of course the wineries and ski hills are very dependent on tourism, too, so the drought (especially if there are fires) has had a tremendous impact. It’s great to see everyone doing better.

It must be a relief to see the lake and stream so full after several years of drought. Beautiful photos, Lynette!

Thank you very much. 😊 It definitely has been, Tricia. There was a lot of worry and concern given this area’s dependence on agriculture and tourism.

Send it down river! We need moisture… but what’s new about that. 🤨

If I could I would! After the drought and all the fires here, I understand completely. I’ve also lived in Medicine Hat, so I know how dry it can get through the southern prairies. I looked up southern Sask weather on an aviation website (they’re usually more accurate) and you’re supposed to get cooler temperatures with rain toward Wednesday. Fingers crossed for you.

All summer long rain is 2 days away in the forecast! Good thing is the garden will be all, well at least mostly, planted by then.

Fingers crossed for you that you then get a nice soaker rainfall to get everything all nicely started. 😊

Glad to hear that water levels in the lake are elevated after a few years of being in a drought. As they say, “April showers bring May flowers”. That iris is gorgeous.

There has been a huge, collective sigh of relief here from all the agricultural people who have been so terribly affected over the last three years by drought, forest fires and then a cold snap in Jan 24 that almost killed everything. They could do with some easier times, that’s for sure. Yes, the irises are really benefitting from all the rain. So pretty.
