Still, this is in keeping with March’s weather unpredictability and it also won’t hurt to have a good water table when the 38C (100F) temperatures hit!
Happy Tuesday.

On the left, I see a snake that’s about to strike.

What about you?
Happy Sunday.
… just wait a bit!

Happy Spring! It officially started today. 🌸
Well, if you were in need of some differences in the weather and you were in our area yesterday, all you had to do was wait a bit! We saw all four seasons in about six hours.
I awoke to some of this …

… followed by buckets and buckets of this …

… and then a little of this …

… and then this.

March is definitely not boring.
Happy Friday.
Clear and sunny but as blue-cold as the depths of a glacier …

… the wind whipping down this long, narrow lake, pushing before it ice birthed in the shallows …

… coagulating on the beaches and shores …

… a far cry from the warmth and beauty of the summer sun …
… can’t wait.
Happy Tuesday.
We have had a lot of wind, very cold, and with the odd spritz of rain or teeny bit of snow …

… but it has been sunny and that has helped a lot.

Nevertheless this wind really has a mind of its own. Rattling windows and bare branches and trying to grab my scarf or car door, there’s a lot of discontent in its undulating wintery sighs and moans.
Happy Weekend.

A single duck …

… paddles through a blushing world …

… after a crystalline winter day.
Happy Tuesday,
We are supposed to be getting clear skies but cold temperatures over the next couple of days, the result of a so-called “polar vortex” (really? do we need to add drama to the weather? as we know, the weather is quite capable of providing its own drama without the ridiculous names). Nevertheless, and with all due respect to Shakespeare, something frigid this way comes. I saw it arriving yesterday afternoon.

The heavy valley cloud was being forced out by a very brisk, cold wind blowing out of the north that was also causing whitecaps on the lake. Brrr.

Although we still had 5C (41F) out, it really felt much, much colder, the result of that chilling wind.

Even though we are supposed to drop to about -5C (23F), an advantage is that we are supposed to get very clear, sunny days. After all the overcast that will be nice, even though the winter clothing layers will need to increase.
Happy weekend.
A few days ago we had a very wet snowfall that lasted a couple of hours and then turned to rain. Some of the oak trees were still hanging on to their leaves and as a result they became covered in wet, heavy snow.

A few were still a bit green yet most had dried and were just clinging …

… but the weight of the snow put an end to that. The sidewalks were covered in oak leaves; the last bit of autumn finally found its way to the ground.
Sometimes, even the trees can be stubborn!
Happy weekend.
