In Canada, it’s Thanksgiving. There is much for which to be thankful.

I hope you have a happy one. 🎃

Sometimes it’s when you look back at a particular time or place that you realise just how good it was. And then sometimes, now and again, when you …
Merzouga: Three Days In The Desert Sun
I’m passing on this post from The Hungry Travellers, who are doing a series about their present trip to Morocco. Beautiful pictures and lyrical descriptions of their travels are characteristic of their posts; I hope you enjoy it.
These red and yellow European ash trees provide a sharp visual counterpoint to the fantastic autumnal blue sky.

Tall and imposing, they are presently at the height of their colour.

These dramatic leaves won’t be around for long, but I plan to enjoy them as much as possible!

Happy Sunday.
Yesterday we had a gorgeous autumn day and decided to have lunch at a restaurant next to Skaha Lake. Penticton sits on an ancient landslide that bisected the valley’s lake to create two: Okanagan Lake at Penticton’s north end and Skaha Lake to the south.

The temperature was perfect so enjoying lunch outside was a good choice. We might not be able to do that for much longer and we got a perfect day for it, or as close to that as possible.

The day was stunningly clear with its beautiful blue canopy.

The mountains are still quite brown after our extremely dry summer, but doing better after a recent week of cooler temperatures and rain.
Happy Thanksgiving Saturday.
There are many lovely symbols and rituals associated with autumn, but all of them are bittersweet, implying as they do the death of the season and the impending colder months.

Big bins of honey crisp apples, cool and crunchy; the last of summer in their sweetness.

Restless swathes of leaves, swirling and settling, settling and swirling.

Green with yellow highlights becomes a lovely and familiar sight.
Happy Friday; happy Thanksgiving weekend. 🦃

My photos in this continuing series show our beautiful world. Maybe I can encourage viewers to help save it from human carelessness. Today I give you…

A beautiful sunset Italian lake shot from Stuart. I hope you stop by his blog for a look at his lovely photography.
Autumn is here with its colour and drifting coolness and many of the trees are beginning to change.

Some quickly turn yellow all at once while others hold off; they hang on to their green finery as long as they can.

Others turn an impressive red.

The orangey-yellowish-red ones look very showy in the sun.

Whatever your colour preferences, it’s a very pretty interval as we enjoy this precious time before winter’s arrival.
Happy Thursday.
As a pilot I have often seen the blue hour effect, something I’ve enjoyed experiencing over the years.

It happens when the sun is well below the horizon but its blue wavelengths are still visible.

In these shots there is some amplification from the cloud cover, but I like the effect. The interplay between light and dark is one of the amazing sights our spectacular natural world has to offer.
Happy Wednesday.

The forest fades to silence As the daylight she clings And whispers her song into the night When silence gently sings

I love that even though we’re into October, the beaches are still somewhat busy with family and friend barbecues, and now that we have had rain, it’s also okay for a beachy fire pit, too.

I hope we’re settling in for a lovely long October.

Happy Tuesday.
