Thinking About Spring, Part II

Since most of the country is in the absolute depths of January weather, I think that now is good time to see a bit more spring. 🌸 Last time, I posted pictures from March and April, 2025. Here are some from May, 2025. I hope they brighten your day.

Pretty pink phlox …

… and mock orange with its lovely aroma …

… was accompanied by irises in all their glory.

The rhododendrons burst forth in heady abandon …

… in hot pink as well as white.

Their cousins, the azaleas, weren’t left behind.

Multi-layered peonies unfurled themselves …

… while the lovely lilacs spread their gentle fragrance.

Things to look forward to. Happy Friday. 🌸

  1. We seem to be stuck in a bit of a grey, damp spell at the moment, Lynette, which is unusual around here, but nothing to complain of compared to what many are experiencing. Happy Friday! xx

  2. Gorgeous flowers. Amazing photos. I am certainly looking forward to spring as well, with some hesitation since it is also thunderstorm, supercell and tornado season, and our dog Rollo does not like that. every season has its drawbacks.

    1. Thank you very much, Thomas. I very much enjoyed taking all those photos last spring. Yes, you’re quite right. Every season has its drawbacks. I hope your thunderstorm/supercell/tornado season is unremarkable this year and Rollo gets a nice little break!

  3. Yes please! It’s nice to see some colour and warmth from your beautiful pictures. It’ currently -21C (and feels like -28C) in southern Ontario. Brrrr. Not looking forward to going into the office this morning.

    1. I definitely know what -21 feels like (-28, too) so you definitely have my sympathies! At least it’s Friday and you have the weekend coming up. Here we have rain and extremely heavy cloud that goes almost down to the ground so it is very leaden grey. At +7 nothing to complain about, though.

    1. Thank you, Allan. Yes, definitely something to look forward to. The cloud is so thick and heavy today that I can’t see the mountains; it’s like we’re enveloped in a giant powder puff so thinking about what’s getting closer is great! Cheers.

  4. Lynette, these May photos are an absolute burst of sunshine for the soul. On a grey January day, you’ve gifted us the lush greens, the vibrant blooms, and the clear, hopeful light of late spring. It feels like a deep breath of fresh, warm air. Thank you for sharing this beautiful forward glance—it’s the perfect reminder that every season has its turn, and brighter, warmer days are always on their way. You have a wonderful eye for capturing joy.
