A very windy, very rainy storm passed through the valley and brought a heavy, dark, moisture-laden overcast. After storming all day, it started to clear toward late afternoon.

Those heavy clouds broke up, the wind dropped off and the sun shone.

Orphan clouds hung about for a bit, but they didn’t last long …

… and there was enough of the day left to give us a pretty sunset.

Here it is from one angle …

… and from another.
Happy Sunday.
That calm water and clearing sky is a lovely sight. Happy Sunday! xx

Thank you very much, Jo. 😊 I was quite surprised when it so suddenly dissipated as I thought it was going to be staying all night, too!

Stunning photographs of spectacular clouds trailing and “blossoming” in the winds. “After the Storm” is a meditative series of photos in such a beautiful natural palette. Thank you for sharing this Post; and a Happy Sunday to you as well!

You’re very welcome; my pleasure. Thank you also; your kind comment is much appreciated. It was fun getting these photos after the storm had begun to clear.

Thank you very much, Anneli. 😊 Yes, I heard about that one from friends in Vancouver and it seems to have headed our way. It was quite an intense storm that lasted about 6-7 hours and dropped a lot of rain.

Such dramatic skies Lynette. That is autumn for sure. Things change quickly in the fall. Have a great day. Allan

Thanks, Allan. Yes, there’s no mistaking autumn now, but still, I was surprised at how quickly this storm just stopped. One second buckets of rain were coming down and the next it all had just come to a halt! Cheers.

Beautiful pictures! We got so much wind and rain yesterday over near where I live, too. More is on its way this week. I’ll hunker down.

Thank you very much, Cecelia. 😊 We seem to be getting storm after storm coming across the Pacific and then onward to us here in the interior. Stay cozy!

Gorgeous scenery. I love that lake and the mountains. Still some wind I see. Happy Sunday to you too.

Thank you, Thomas. We love it too and feel very fortunate to live here. Yes, there was a bit of wind left still when I took these pictures but that was nothing compared to the 100 km gusts we had been getting earlier in the day!

Yes 100Km/h gusts that’s almost hurricane strenght

It was intense! Some of the trees looked like they might snap. It’s surprising that so many of them retained their leaves!

When the tornado plowed through our neighborhood there were a lot of trees who broke apart, got uprooted and that lost their branches, but interestingly the leaves remained.

I’ve noticed that before, too. Despite their seeming fragility they are definitely tough – a lot tougher than they look!

The good thing about the wind is that it blows away all the clouds after a strorm. Lovely captures of the afternoon sky at sunset. We’re in for a windy day today!!

Thank you very much. A very good point, Linda, and the air was so fresh afterward, too. Honestly though, I’m getting tired of all this wind; after a while the constant blowing is irritating. That said, there’s no wind today! I hope yours doesn’t last long.

The wind is awful for my skin and makes my lips dry. I’m generally not a fan of it either.

It often does that to me, too, especially on the prairies where it’s extra dry. This time it was buckets of rain with a huge side of wind, so not very dry but irritating all the same!

Gorgeous! We had a sunny, warm day here yesterday, but the rain is predicted to arrive again today.

Thank you, Tricia. 😊 The same here. Warm and sunny yesterday but we’re expecting rain today. It’s becoming very overcast.
