We had a lovely day hike through the Maligne Lake and River section of Jasper National Park.

The warm weather, bright sun and fresh air was wonderful.
Happy Tuesday.

Such beautiful views along your hike. This area looks like it wasn’t affected by the wildfires.

This area escaped completely, Linda. As we drove to the trailhead we saw a lot of burn damage but once there you wouldn’t know that there had ever been a fire. It was amazing.

A gorgeous part of Jasper National Park Lynette. We hiked 3 trails here in February and wondered why we had never hiked this area before. We liked it so much we came on 2 separate days. We will be back in September. Happy Tuesday. Allan

Thanks, Allan. It sure is, isn’t it? We really enjoyed hiking that area of Jasper and would definitely go back as well. Such stunning scenery (I kept stopping about every two metres) and of course we were early enough that we didn’t see even one bug! A nice little perk.

it’s so beautiful. I haven’t been to Maligne in a few years, bit it’s a place I know I’ll return to one day. Maggie

It’s so gorgeous there and yet the devastated areas aren’t far away.

It’s quite amazing, Bernie. Terrible destruction in some areas but completely untouched in others.

How were services? Was much available if you needed gas, food or lodgings?
LikeLiked by 1 person
There were no issues at all; plenty of places to stay, gas, etc. We stayed at Patricia Lake which wasn’t affected at all. The damage at Jasper townsite has all been removed and rebuilding has already started. Some areas are closed to hiking because of trees across the trails but those will be re-opened soon, too. About 10% of the park was destroyed or damaged, so the majority of it is fine. Cheers.

I find it interesting that the lake merits a navigation buoy – is it humming with watercraft in the summer?
LikeLiked by 2 people
Possibly not since they are only permitted (electric motors only) in designated areas in the national parks and I’m not sure if Maligne is one of the lakes selected for watercraft use. Other than that, the buoys are mainly there for the rangers and also to indicate deep water for anyone swimming. These mountain lakes are so cold that I wouldn’t be trying that, though!
