Here is a sample of some of the spring glories we have right now.

In Canada, the long Victoria Day weekend is about to start; please enjoy your camping or barbecuing or whatever you might have planned. For everyone else, have a good regular weekend and don’t forget to enjoy the flowers. 💐
I love them. But especially those vibrant pink ones. Those ones are eye catching to me.

Yes, those pink ones are so bright and intense; really one of the best spring colours, I think! Cheers.

Nature’s colour palette is far better than any Pantone collection and the scents of spring are all about. Loving the lilacs here right now. Heading homeward on Sunday. Hopefully, we will miss the worst Victoria Day weekend traffic. Happy Friday and long weekend Lynette. Allan

Thank you very much, Allan. I agree. Nature’s palette can’t be surpassed by artificial colours. Sunday should be pretty quiet; a good time to avoid most of the long weekend traffic. We’re leaving here on Wednesday headed for Yukon. We’ve never driven there before and are looking forward to it. Safe travels.

Lilacs are so common, but they’re still one of my favourites. The fragrance takes me back to childhood I think. Happy May Long!! Maggie

Thank you very much! I agree, Maggie. They are everywhere and yes, they take me back to my childhood, too. The sense of smell has the strongest links to memory and I still remember my mother trimming the lilac hedge around our back garden. Cheers.

Your flowering season is ahead of ours; no peonies or irises yet, so I get to enjoy yours first! Lovely photos, Lynette 😊

Thank you very much, Belinda. 😊A nice way to stretch the season! If you post pictures of yours when they bloom, I’ll get to enjoy them again too. 😊

Yes, even here in the desert! Cacti will bloom, of course flowers and the Mexican Fan Palms. There are tons of Deciduous trees too. 😎

somehow, this is always the weekend that starts the summer season

Agreed, Penny. I remember feeling that way too, even when I was a child. I also remember enduring some bad Victoria weekends when the wind howled and the sleet started!

Back east (aka Toronto) the “Two-Four” weekend was also the dividing line for planting your annuals. Plant before the 24th, if a late frost got them, it was your fault for planting too early, but as of the 25th, if a late frost got them… well, shame on God,

I had forgotten about that! My mother had that rule of thumb, too.

You forgot the part of the long weekend that always kept me at work — drive very very safely. It is always such a deadly weekend. OK — now back to the beautiful flowers.

Many thanks for that important reminder, Bernie. Yes, Victoria weekend can be tragic and deadly.
And yes, back to the flowers and I hope you have a good weekend. 💐

A beautiful display of colours. So many of my favourite flowers too, especially the hydrangeas. We’ll be opening our pool and doing lots of gardening this weekend. Enjoy the long weekend as well.

Yes, I know you like hydrangeas and I thought of you when I posted the pictures. Have a great weekend, Linda. Victoria long is traditionally the start of summer for Canadians and yes, often a yard work weekend. You’ll soon be enjoying your garden and pool though!

Thankfully we’ve had pretty nice weather for it too! It goes by way too quickly though. I could use another long weekend!
