A late January sun shines on snow-covered mountains to the eastern margin of the Okanagan Valley.

We have been fortunate to have had quite a few sunny days or part days during January …

… but not today.
Happy weekend.

Atmospheric though, despite the lack of sunshine

Definitely very dramatic. The clouds were very low.

So pretty Lynette. A dusting of snow and open water is better than we have been getting. After a January with 22 days above average, we have been getting snow (maybe 20 cm so far with more to come) and then it is into the deep freeze. Gotta love January. Happy Saturday Lynette. Allan

I looked at your weather and saw -22 at YEG with wind at -35. Brrr. 🥶 20 cm? That’s a lot of snow! Don’t forget to be cautious about the shovelling. Yesterday we had the start of huge black clouds, wind and rain coming out of the south but it has dissipated a lot this morning (big black clouds in more ways than one – ugh). Stay warm!

Even cloudy days make for fine photography! Nicely done, Lynette 😊

Thank you very much, Belinda; I think so too. 😊 Those clouds were very low but mostly gone this morning.

It looks great in either setting (sun or cloud). The main thing is that the snow stays up in the hills where it belongs.

Thank you very much, Anneli. 😊 I agree – no snow down here at all and there has been very, very little all winter, thankfully.

The landscape still looks beautiful regardless of the weather. We didn’t get much sun in January. But the days are starting to get noticeably longer.

Aren’t these longer days wonderful? We have definitely been fortunate in getting some sunny days – it has been so nice, especially after a very grey and overcast December. I hope you get some sunny days even if it’s still cold.

Thank you very much, Tricia. 😊 It actually was about 4C (39F) out so not even below freezing, but it was very grey and the wind was nasty!

I totally agree, Bernie, especially in December and January!
