Rain, Rain, Go Away …

We have some chunky rain – rain with snow crystals – falling at the moment, so I think it’s time for something a little brighter than what I’m seeing outside right now.

Penticton is smothered in a very grey, chilly and rainy overcast.

There definitely will be sights like these again, thankfully.

A late August pond lily.
Wine grapes and blue skies. Do you need much more?
A beautiful late July evening – it was about 40C (104F) that day. Can you feel the heat?
A late June rose.

I enjoyed this little colourful break. I hope you did, too, especially if you’re in the rain or snow zone.

  1. Thanks for the colour Lynette. At this time of year, we need it. We have been in the deep freeze here for a few days, but supposed to be up to 7 next week. Our January thaw. Have a great Saturday. Allan

    1. You’re very welcome and thanks, Allan. Yes, I saw that you’re cold! -20 or so? But nice that it won’t be too long before you warm up again. We’re at 3 and supposed to get some sun by Monday! Rather precious for January so I’ll be sure to enjoy it. Cheers.

    1. It’s very grey although the chunky rain has stopped and there’s no snow here in the valley, thankfully. It’s 3C (37F) but likely won’t get much colder. I used to work in the subarctic where it really can get cold. -40C (-40F) isn’t unusual, so winter here is comparatively balmy. 😊

        1. Yes. I’ve had my eyelashes freeze and have also started coughing if I breathed in too much cold air at once. There were many interesting things about working in the north but accepting the cold and the limitations that come with it are essential.

    1. Thank you very much, Belinda. I thought the pond lily would be a good picture, too. I’m definitely looking forward to spring. -20? That sounds like NWT weather! Maybe some hot chocolate is in order. 😊

    1. Thank you very much, Anneli. It was time for a bit of summer colour, I thought. The rain has stopped here now. We were forecast to get wet snow (up to 5 cm) during the night but it didn’t materialise, thankfully. We’re still at about 5° which is keeping us wet rather than snow-covered!

      1. We had some flurries in with the rain yesterday but nothing that would stick. Very cold for the birds and squirrels though. This morning when I went out to feed the squirrel, he was waiting for me and dug right into the walnuts I brought out. Very hungry because of the cold. Now it’s easing up again. Crazy weather.

        1. Fingers crossed that we don’t experience a cold snap like last January. I bet that the squirrel was very happy to have a good meal! How great that you’re helping these little ones along through the winter. Cheers.

          1. It’s good to help them along in tough times, but the downside is that when they don’t show up for lunch, I worry that something happened to them. But that’s life and I have to come to terms with that. And yes, fingers, toes, and eyes crossed that we don’t get real winter visiting us before spring finally comes.
