We have some chunky rain – rain with snow crystals – falling at the moment, so I think it’s time for something a little brighter than what I’m seeing outside right now.

There definitely will be sights like these again, thankfully.

I enjoyed this little colourful break. I hope you did, too, especially if you’re in the rain or snow zone.
Nice post 🌅🌅

Thanks for the colour Lynette. At this time of year, we need it. We have been in the deep freeze here for a few days, but supposed to be up to 7 next week. Our January thaw. Have a great Saturday. Allan

You’re very welcome and thanks, Allan. Yes, I saw that you’re cold! -20 or so? But nice that it won’t be too long before you warm up again. We’re at 3 and supposed to get some sun by Monday! Rather precious for January so I’ll be sure to enjoy it. Cheers.

It has been gloomy here, but when I look at my sis’s area–“feels like 8 degrees”–I feel lucky!

Yes, “gloomy” is the word for it! The chunky rain has stopped and at least the snow is still up in the mountains instead of here in the valley but the overcast is pretty thick!

Lovely photos, Lynette! The first photo is amazing, so cold and beautiful. Stay warm!

It’s very grey although the chunky rain has stopped and there’s no snow here in the valley, thankfully. It’s 3C (37F) but likely won’t get much colder. I used to work in the subarctic where it really can get cold. -40C (-40F) isn’t unusual, so winter here is comparatively balmy. 😊

Wow! That’s darn ccccold! The lowest temp I have been in was in Michigan at -30F. My breath froze to my mustache!

Yes. I’ve had my eyelashes freeze and have also started coughing if I breathed in too much cold air at once. There were many interesting things about working in the north but accepting the cold and the limitations that come with it are essential.

Essential, indeed. my ex from Socal has asthma, the cold in Michigan tore her lungs up. No fun.

That definitely would not have been.

Gorgeous. NC is mid-atlantic but, BOY have we had bitter cold temps, rain & snow warnings.

Thank you very much. 😊 It seems that N. America is getting a much colder winter everywhere this year. We are recovering from a major drought so the rain has been welcome, though. Cheers.

I did indeed enjoy your beautiful photos. It’s grey and rainy here too. Typical winter weather for the PNW.

That’s good to hear! Pretty typical for here, too. Apparently most of the west coast is in for a wet and/or wet snow time of it for the next month. Definitely a “wet coast.” 😉

A delightful glimpse of what’s to come. That pond lily is a sight for winter weary eyes! It’s -20C here with the windchill 😒

Thank you very much, Belinda. I thought the pond lily would be a good picture, too. I’m definitely looking forward to spring. -20? That sounds like NWT weather! Maybe some hot chocolate is in order. 😊

Early in the week it was 0C 😏. You’re right about the hot chocolate!

Ontario’s temperatures seem to be all over the place! Yes, hot chocolate is a very good thing. ☕️

We had the same slushy rain yesterday! Your photos are really beautiful today.

Thank you very much, Anneli. It was time for a bit of summer colour, I thought. The rain has stopped here now. We were forecast to get wet snow (up to 5 cm) during the night but it didn’t materialise, thankfully. We’re still at about 5° which is keeping us wet rather than snow-covered!

We had some flurries in with the rain yesterday but nothing that would stick. Very cold for the birds and squirrels though. This morning when I went out to feed the squirrel, he was waiting for me and dug right into the walnuts I brought out. Very hungry because of the cold. Now it’s easing up again. Crazy weather.

Fingers crossed that we don’t experience a cold snap like last January. I bet that the squirrel was very happy to have a good meal! How great that you’re helping these little ones along through the winter. Cheers.

It’s good to help them along in tough times, but the downside is that when they don’t show up for lunch, I worry that something happened to them. But that’s life and I have to come to terms with that. And yes, fingers, toes, and eyes crossed that we don’t get real winter visiting us before spring finally comes.

Yes, I would worry, too. There are so many things that can happen to them, but you’re right, that’s life. Agreed; no big time snow or cold temperatures before spring!

Ah yes, a good reminder that the best is yet to come for the year. No rain for us, but it’s been extremely chilly.

We had our first hard frost a couple of nights ago but otherwise lots of rain with temperatures around 2-5. Lots of very grey overcast. Honestly, I’m looking forward to spring!
