I love seeing this colour in autumn. It is not the norm in our neck of the woods, but my Amur maple is ablaze right now. We did see a lot of red when we were in NW and PEI, so that helps and we will soon see it on the other coast. Happy Wednesday Lynette. Allan
Thanks, Allan. The Amur maples are gorgeous! No, it’s not really a prairie thing. We have lots of reds, oranges, rusty reds and purples, too. There’s really a beautiful palette. You’ll enjoy that when you get to Vancouver. Cheers.
Thank you very much, Belinda. 😊 The sumac are so interesting. In some areas they turn yellow but in others they are bright red. I like your description; they are like party streamers.
They are really beautiful in both summer and autumn. There are a couple of main kinds. The compact is smaller with flatter leaves while the regular will spread out horizontally and grow vertically to about 2 or 3 metres. It’s big but gorgeous!
Isn’t it wonderful? No red here.

Sure is. We’re fortunate to have lots of red-turning bushes and trees in this area. So beautiful right now! Cheers.

How colourful. Not a colour I see much of around here.

We do get a varied palette of colours ranging from rusty red and purple to golden yellows. So pretty. I wish they would last a bit longer!

These trees and shrubs are “reddy” for winter.

So beautiful and vibrant! I’ve been thinking of planting a burning bush in our backyard to add more colour in the fall.
