  1. Amazing how nature knows the right time to renew. No leaves here yet, but the catkins are long and dazzling in the sunshine. Also, the variety of water fowl is increasing. Welcome Spring. Happy Thursday Lynette. Allan

    1. Thanks, Allan. I like the catkins; they’re so pretty. Agreed – nature knows. Many things here are out. There are Alberta wild roses lining a path that I frequently walk and yesterday I saw that flower buds are just starting. I didn’t realise they could be so quick since the bushes only leafed out last week. The slower trees like the Norway maples are just now dropping their flowers. Our water fowl – many of them overwinter – have paired up and are in the nesting process.

I really haven’t experienced this spring process from end to end in six years because of my time in the north. There, it’s so fast once the days lengthen (and it stops snowing) and of course the plants and animals are very different. I’ve really been enjoying this process and having the time to pay attention to it. Cheers.

    1. This is the first time in six years that I’ve been able to enjoy a spring from end to end (in the subarctic it’s so fast because of the short season and midnight sun) and of course I actually have the time to pay attention now! Yes, I completely understand how that would captivate a naturalist. Cheers.

    1. I agree! M and I just came back from a walk and were remarking on the same thing. Ducks quacking, birds chirping, waterfowl pairing off, everything starting to bloom and yes, great temperatures. Today we had 16C. I have seen a few flies but no biters!
