I love how everything is popping and bursting.

Flowering trees …

… budding trees …

… and, of course, budding tree reflections.
Happy Thursday.

Amazing how nature knows the right time to renew. No leaves here yet, but the catkins are long and dazzling in the sunshine. Also, the variety of water fowl is increasing. Welcome Spring. Happy Thursday Lynette. Allan

Thanks, Allan. I like the catkins; they’re so pretty. Agreed – nature knows. Many things here are out. There are Alberta wild roses lining a path that I frequently walk and yesterday I saw that flower buds are just starting. I didn’t realise they could be so quick since the bushes only leafed out last week. The slower trees like the Norway maples are just now dropping their flowers. Our water fowl – many of them overwinter – have paired up and are in the nesting process.
I really haven’t experienced this spring process from end to end in six years because of my time in the north. There, it’s so fast once the days lengthen (and it stops snowing) and of course the plants and animals are very different. I’ve really been enjoying this process and having the time to pay attention to it. Cheers.

Now you are just making me jealous. I think my neighbour spotted his first tulip coming up today. That’s as good as I got. 😁

Hahaha. 😊 Sorry, Allan, but I think I put in my time in NWT. I have to do a bit of bragging. 😉

I read a book about a naturalist who spent a year in one spot watching how nature changed–plants and animals. It’s easy to see how that would captivate him.

This is the first time in six years that I’ve been able to enjoy a spring from end to end (in the subarctic it’s so fast because of the short season and midnight sun) and of course I actually have the time to pay attention now! Yes, I completely understand how that would captivate a naturalist. Cheers.

Your last photo is a trippy. I love it. We’re getting into what I think of as the gorgeous green time of year here. Make me happy.

Hahaha. 😊 Thanks, Ally. I love this fish pond reflection also. Gives new meaning to that old saying about fish climbing trees. 😉 “Gorgeous green time;” I love that. Makes me happy, too.

I very much agree, Anneli. I’m enjoying experiencing a full spring after six winters in the north!

I particularly like the first photo and the “gentle” colours of early spring!

Thank you very much, Belinda. 😊 Aren’t they beautiful? Those lighter colours are so lovely.

I was driving along a country road in a light rain and the mist and colour of the emerging leaves was so pretty!

It sure is, especially after all the rain, snow and overcast. I think many of us just feel a lot better seeing those spring colours. 😊

These early days of spring are my favourite. New growth is starting to emerge, birds are chirping, the weather is comfortable and the days are getting longer. And the bugs aren’t out yet.

I agree! M and I just came back from a walk and were remarking on the same thing. Ducks quacking, birds chirping, waterfowl pairing off, everything starting to bloom and yes, great temperatures. Today we had 16C. I have seen a few flies but no biters!
