Well, it’s February and officially still winter, so I guess Mr. Cold feels like it has a job to complete.

After several days of inaccurate predictions, Environment Canada finally got it right. Our temperature dipped, snowy rain started to fall and it felt quite cold after our streak of warmish, springy days.

I was surprised to spot these icicles hanging from a willow tree next to the lake; it seems the wind had whipped the water up and it had frozen there, creating these solid striations. Although the wind had died off by the time I went walking, it was definitely cold. My ears and nose tingling from the frost, I enjoyed getting inside again.
Happy Wednesday.
Love the icicle shot Lynette. Winter water is so amazing. Here, it is still pretty solid and under 8″ of white. Have a wonderful Wednesday. Allan

Thanks, Allan.
It’s so funny how on the one hand, I’ve really been enjoying the recent spring-like weather, but on the other, I’m very conscious of the need for a cooler, wetter, slower spring, especially to the north. Oddly enough, I was happy to see our return to cooler temperatures and more precipitation. Cheers.

Love the icicles that have formed by the water. Even though it’s still winter, at least the days are getting longer.

Yes, the longer days are so much better! I was surprised to see those icicles there – a testament to how cold and windy it had become during the night. It’s still rather cold; we’re hovering around 2C. Cheers.

Same kind of weather here, Lynette. Warm yesterday and freezing today. Quick turnaround.
Those icicles look like they blew upward. Cool.

Agreed – they do look like they blew upward, I think the wind must have been blowing the water that way.
I’ve heard that most of us in this country are supposed to get colder weather over the next several days. I don’t know how far this cold front will reach into the US, though. Stay warm!

Beautifully captured! We reached a high of 16C today, and a flash freeze forecast for tonight 😯. Very strange.

Thank you very much. 😊 Yes, I heard you were going to be getting a serious but apparently quick deep freeze! Wow. Agreed – very strange.

I’m glad you’ve downsized your icicles, Lynette. These are much easier to deal with than the huge ones hanging by your door up north. Prettier too.

Hahaha. 😊 Good one and so true! Yes, we had massive ones in NWT and I’m so glad that we’re getting much smaller ones.

It’s strange how our temperatures went back up today but the wind was very strong and chilly and we had a very thick overcast layer, too. The weather has certainly been variable but agreed, Cold and Winter aren’t quite finished! Cheers. 😊

Indeed, it was very windy these past 2 days here too, but I can’t really complain, we had a mild winter overall😊 Have a lovely day! xx

Yes, overall in February the weather was the usual for this area. No complaints here really, either. Cheers.
