Because we have been fortunate enough here in avoiding the worst of the drought and forest fires, we have lots of rich green to celebrate.

Tree fruit orchards abound and are producing many yummy delights from apricots to pears.

And not to be forgotten of course, vineyards.

Hostas are at their peak, with their lovely variegated leaves and notice-me flower stalks.

Isn’t summer great? Happy Saturday.
So green is your valley, Lynette. 🙂 Happy Saturday and Happy Summer!

Snap! Beautiful and green here too in Southern England – especially compared to last summer when everything was yellow and dust dry. Alas, no vineyard and wow, stunning mountain views. Enjoy the balanced summer, Lynette! xx

Thank you very much. Yes, I’ve heard that you’re getting your share of rain; maybe more than usual? Our western provinces have been fighting forest fires since May – it has been like you say, dust dry. We have been fortunate for the most part here in our valley as we were getting enough showers to keep everything happy but those have stopped now and we have a fire about 80 km to the south of us straddling the Canada-US border. As of this morning, fire fighters are apparently making progress against it. Stay dry and enjoy your green!

Always nice to see the green Lynette. Some gorgeous shots. But the early May heat is about to bite us in the A– here. Already some leaves on tree tops are turning colour and some are dropping from the heat stress, crops are ripening early and my potato vines are withering. Sigh. Hoping for a long warm fall with some showers sprinkled in. Happy Saturday. Allan

Thanks, Allan. Wow – leaves turning already and your potato vines withering. This has been a difficult summer with such extremes – drought and floods. Agreed – hoping for a better autumn although frankly I’ve thought a bit about what could be coming next.

Yes, summer has for the most part been good here in our microclimate. Cheers.

Hi Lynette – I enjoyed these pictures – we also have a lot of green here, after a period of no rain. Everything is growing like a teenager! I really like your description of “notice me flower stalks.” Hope you are enjoying the weekend!

Thank you very much – I’m happy to hear that. Great also that you finally got some rain! I like hostas a lot with their lovely ruffled leaves but found it funny that their blooms grow on these ungainly-looking stalks until it occurred to me that it’s an attempt to attract pollinators. I am having a good weekend; hope you are too. Cheers.

I hope you stay lucky. Those fires near Osoyoos would make me nervous.

Thanks, Anneli. It’s definitely very concerning.

Glad to hear! We’ve been getting a decent amount of rain too, which has been great for our lawn and gardens. I’m loving all the greenery.

We’re supposed to get more rain tomorrow which we need as there’s a fire 80 km south of us at the border. We’re now getting quite a lot of smoke. Ugh.

Sorry to hear that the smoke has made its way to you. Hopefully the rain helps.

We’ve had showers the last couple of nights and that has helped to somewhat clear the air. We need more, though.

Thank you for this celebration of the many shades, many textures, many roles of green.

You’re very welcome, Penny. We had escaped until a week ago when the Osoyoos fire crossed the border; now we’re getting a lot of smoke. There’s rain forecast though over the next couple of days – I hope it arrives. Cheers.

Only cloudy here and like you, we’re eager for rain

We’ve had some overnight showers but a soaking rain of several hours is what we really need, especially to put our the Osoyoos fire.
