Orchids are a marvellous part of the Dominican landscape. 
There are many kinds, including the vanilla orchid that is native to the island. They weren’t blooming when we visited, but here’s a beautiful white one that was.

And one more.

There are many magnificent things in the world; in this 20/20 year, we need to see that.

Oh Jill! So sorry to hear that you’ve been feeling so poorly. Flus can be really bad. People think, oh, it’s just the flu, but it can be a lot more than that. The last one I had turned into pneumonia. Be good to yourself and I hope you feel better soon. I’m glad the photos brightened your day. 🙂
