First we had this …
… which gave us a very early start to evening darkness. With this sort of weather, it was good to be at home with a hot chocolate!
These very dark clouds dropped a terrific amount of rain which in the mountains fell as snow.
But then we got some of this …
… which lead to being able to see the snow on the mountains. And that’s exactly where it belongs. The skiers are happy but we’re equally happy with 10C (50F) and snowless environs!

We recently had a very sunny day that started becoming overcast by mid-afternoon with clouds swiftly moving in from the south.
I was fortunate enough to leave for my evening ramble in time to see the sunset before it became completely obscured.
I very much enjoyed the counterpoint between grey and orange as the clouds began to envelop the evening sky.
Now that we’re heading into December the sunsets don’t last long – or may be shrouded by gloom – so I took the time to savour this one before it disappeared and the clouds had their way with the skyscape.

We’ve had a lot of rain – and wind, especially – lately, so it was fantastic when the wind started to die off and the skies began to clear.
Our autumn weather has been definitely interesting; most of September was hot and windy with daily temperatures around 35 or so (95F) but then it suddenly turned and became rainy and windy!
Although we’ve had the odd day or two of good weather, the wind and rain have really dominated … did I mention the wind? 😉
However, we are supposed to be entering a stretch of sunny, windless days with temperatures around 13 or 14 (55-57F); very comfortable for November!
I was very happy to go out for my ramble to see the sky clearing … and joy of joys! No wind!

We have been getting lots of thunderstorm warnings recently and certainly they have been all around us with their distant rumbling and even their high winds and rains, but nothing directly up until now. The skies they produce however can be quite amazing as they roil past us. It’s worth noting that I haven’t made any adjustments to the colour of these photos; this is just as the camera (and I) saw those clouds.
The sunset reflects off the white cumulus features of these water-laden clouds …
… spreading an almost eerie glow throughout the whole area …
… that briefly intensified as more towering cumulonimbus clouds moved in. An oddly beautiful sight, but one to be respected.
