We are presently socked in by a very grey, heavy overcast accompanied by rain and wind so I chose to post these photos from a couple of weeks ago when we had a few clear but cooler days.

At least our daylight hours are increasing so even though we’re grey, we’re not experiencing complete darkness at 4:30!

And in other good news, now that January is finished, spring might start showing itself a little.
Happy Sunday; happy February.
Happy February, Lynnette. Lovely sunset

Good riddance to January. February is starting off with another warm spell here and “at least its sunny” Happy February Lynette. Allan

Thanks, Allan. Agreed! Sunny is better than drizzles or especially freezing drizzles. I saw that people were being asked to stay off the roads because of the poor conditions in your area. But of course you were also graced with PP’s sunny presence this weekend. Lucky you. 😉

Like DJT, I am sure PP would be glad to take credit for anything and everything. In fact, the NYT reported that PP, who styles himself after Trump won his Leadership review. Once again, he is reinventing himself to appeal more broadly. Will the real PP please stand up?

I always find that he can’t hang on very long to his attempts at reinvention, though. He always falls back to that scornful, dismissive, sarcastic and contemptuous core of his. That’s who he is. I take your point, though. He doesn’t stand for anything, really; he’s like some sort of weird political kaleidoscope. He doesn’t know how to do or build anything, only how to criticize. But in any case, I think his affirmation is probably the best thing that could happen to Carney.

Lovely captures and a great distraction from the miserable weather. And yes, the days are noticeably getting longer now which is a great thing. January down, only a couple months to go before spring!

Thank you very much, Linda. Yes, the worst weather month is past and things should start turning soon, even if only a bit! It always helps so much to have the longer days too even if it’s -15 with blowing snow.

Yay for longer days!

Yeah, DST is ridikalusss… 😂

It’s about time it was junked. Long overdue. Governments keep on about permanent DST but most people here are opposed and just want permanent standard time. Ugh.

They hold the public desire hostage in some sense. Arizona doesn’t do DST se we had to factor that into our travel time the other day. Had a dandy day today at the bird preserves!

I liked that about Arizona when I lived there. Good to hear that you had a good day. Cheers.

It’s not snowing right now but it was when I woke up this morning. It’s 9 degrees Fahrenheit with a wind chill that starts with a minus sign. Cold enough for me, thank you. The Sun is trying to come back out so it’s absolutely dazzling out there and it’s really beautiful. Sadly though, the grimy gray slush part of our program will begin shortly.

I had to look up what 9F is (it’s -12C) because I don’t understand the F temperature system. You are definitely chilly but that’s also not so bad if you have sun, too. Cold but clear is often really beautiful; yes, dazzling. It sounds like you’ve had snow, too. None here at all at the valley floor (it’s in the mountains where it should be!) but lots of rain.

Happy February! It is definitely staying lighter longer, but we’ve been getting a few downpours.

Thank you! We have moss growing everywhere. It’s all happy and contented. Yes, the longer days are much better and of course rain is an improvement over snow. No shovelling needed. 😊

The photos are beautiful. Yes we are getting more day light every day. Here in Dallas the sunset today is 6:01PM, in my hometown in Sweden it is 3:40PM. I saw that in vancouver it is 5:09PM. I don’t know how it compares with your location.

Thank you very much, Thomas. I worked in Yellowknife, NWT for six years where sunset is presently 16:47, so I know about those short northern days. Vancouver is just to the southwest of us so they have a bit more daylight; 9 minutes, to be exact.

Lovely photos. It’s been so cold here the past few days that I ended up pulling out something to put over my face when I walk Charlie that’s not a balaclava but more like a neck warmer that you can pull up to cover your face. The only problem, I discovered my glasses fogged up so it’s not a perfect system but it was nice to be out for more than 3 minutes this afternoon.

Thank you. 😊 This valley in common with the coast tends to have very mild winters with lots of rain and given the winter that seems to be hitting the continent almost everywhere else, I’m very glad! I used to live and work in the north (Arctic regions as well) so I know about foggy glasses and frozen eyelashes. Stay warm, Laura. The worst month is over.
