It’s that time of year when we turn to the sky or to artificial light for the brightness that many of us often crave.

Although we had very overcast conditions, the sky recently cleared enough to allow a very pink sunset. Delightful!

Alternatively, there are candles with their warm glow and the way they can generate a cozy atmosphere.

There are also seasonal lights, bonfires and fireplaces, all of which create a cheery ambience while we await the solstice and the arrival of longer daylight hours.

These festive lights can alleviate some of the chill of a December night … or at least take your mind off it!

Wishing you warm December lights.
Happy Thursday.
Candles seem to soften the harshness of winter. Very nice “feel good” post.

Thank you very much, Anneli. It’s becoming so grey and dark that a “feel good” post seemed like a nice idea. Cheers.

We’ll be out tonight to the theatre. Wrapped up warm. But it’s always joyful when the Christmas lights are on xx

They always add such a measure of cozy charm to the dark and chill. I hope you enjoy the theatre, Jo. Cheers.

Very beautiful morning pictures. Beautiful orange hue. And the tree, candles and wine too.

Thank you very much, Thomas. Those are sunset pictures. If there’s a chance at clearing skies it usually occurs in the evening which seems to be a strong weather pattern here. Cheers.

Some very restive scenes Lynette. We struggle to get enough light in the winter in Canada and in the summer, we have more than enough. Makes us appreciate the seasons both outdoors and indoors. Your lake shots are gorgeous. Happy Thursday. Allan

Thank you very much, Allan. That’s so true. Gorgeous long light in summer, especially in the north, and then very short days (or no daylight at all!) in winter. Agreed; it does make us appreciate the seasons. Cheers.

Lovely! Some folks use that artificial light panel, whatever works. ☺️ That carafe is very beautiful, I love its shape. ❤️

I used to use one of those light lamps when I lived in Northwest Territories. The winter days were very short and those helped! Yes, we both like that carafe. The shape is lovely. 😊

Nice! It would look great with decorate sand or even colored marbles in it too. The nights up there are very long, that’s gotta be tough on your sleep cycle.

In the high Arctic (I was posted there when I was in the military) the polar night starts in mid-October and goes to mid-February. The sun doesn’t come above the horizon although there is some twilight. Very dark but then there’s the midnight sun in summer, too.
Yes, it’s a carafe that would look good with decorative sand or coloured glass. We like it full of wine, though. 😁

Wine is good! I quit drinking beer and having an evening toke before my surgery as I had to but decided to just give that crap up. Its been over a month now and I feel sooo much better. 👍🏻

I don’t drink beer all that much any more. Usually only on a hot day when it seems like the perfect thing! Pot was never my thing. I think I only ever tried it twice. We do like having a glass of wine with a good dinner, though. Good to hear that you’re feeling so much better, John.

Thank you Lynette, I never developed a taste for wine.

I love a pink sky and yours is particularly wonderful with the reflection in the lake.

Candles add a most welcome cozy glow to a dark, winter night. We need that right now. Lovely photos, Lynette.

Thank you very much. 😊 They sure do, Tricia. We are deep inside a huge overcast right now, so every bit helps!

I am a huge fan of sunsets and those are so pretty as is the candle light.

So am I, Bernie. It helps that when we get a break in the weather, it’s usually around 4 p.m. or so when I can catch the sunset. For some reason, that seems to be the weather pattern. Cheers.
