First we had this …

… which gave us a very early start to evening darkness. With this sort of weather, it was good to be at home with a hot chocolate!

These very dark clouds dropped a terrific amount of rain which in the mountains fell as snow.

But then we got some of this …

… which lead to being able to see the snow on the mountains. And that’s exactly where it belongs. The skiers are happy but we’re equally happy with 10C (50F) and snowless environs!
Happy Tuesday.
And that’s where it should stay, looking pretty, minding its own business.

I agree, Anneli. The skiers and snowboarders can enjoy it to pieces while our streets down here stay snow-free. 😊

Definitely, John. It looks beautiful up there and the skiers and snowboarders can totally enjoy it while we stay snow-free. 😊

Snow free, that was not in my vocabulary many years ago! Skiing and snowmobiling were great fun.

Agreed; they are, but I still want the snow to stay up there! 😊

I heard Calgary got a ton of snow. I prefer it in the mountains too. 😊 Maggie

It did! About 20cm and the airport was closed to flights for about 90 minutes because the accumulation was so fast. Apparently there may be more later in the week. Enjoy spring where you are!

Beautiful photos, Lynette. I love snow, but only if I don’t have to go anywhere. Staying in and watching it come down is very soothing.

Thank you, Tricia. 😊 After six winters in the Arctic/subarctic I am happy to just see it in the mountains, although I like your idea of watching it from the comfort of inside. Cheers.

The ever changing weather makes for some fine photography. 😊.. I agree with you about where the snow belongs!

It sure does. We get lots of photogenic clouds during winter but yes, I’m very glad that what they’re carrying stays liquid down here in the valley! We might get a bit of snow but it usually doesn’t last.

If only the snow would stay on the ski hills, how much better things would be. Calgary got hammered yesterday, apparently. Happy Tuesday Lynette. Allan

Thanks, Allan. For sure! All the skiers and snowboarders would be very happy while the rest of us could have ice-free, snow-free roads and sidewalks! Calgary got about 20cm and the airport was closed to flights for 90 minutes because the snow was accumulating so quickly. Apparently more is going to arrive through the week. Enjoy spring in N.Z!

That overwhelming sense of blue before the rain, only to conclude with such beautiful weather is a greatly stressful yet welcome transition 🤩

I agree, Keerthi. These clouds were definitely very dramatic and contained a lot of weather, but the sun afterwards was so welcomed and beautiful. Cheers.

Gorgeous landscape and great photos and I certainly would like to ski there

There are many good ski resorts here. I did a lot of skiing in this region years ago and really enjoyed it but gave it up 15 years ago after a bad fall.

I am sorry that happened. I had a bad fall at the age of 22 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, a bad shoulder displacement, consussion, and severe amnesia for three days. However, I was young enough to continue. Now as an old guy I still continue skiing.

Thank you, Thomas. I suffered a dislocated hip which then lead to a hip replacement, so with one of those my skiing days are over. Wow! That was really bad, Thomas. Yes, when we’re younger we can recover well from severe injury but that really declines with age. I had fun skiing but it’s a part of life that I had to give up. I did some skiing at Garmisch-Partenkirchen many years ago.

Wow a dislocated hip which then lead to a hip replacement, that beats anything that happened to me. I certainly understand why you did not want to continue skiing.

Beautiful captures, even with the moody skies in the evening. We got some snow over the last couple of days and more is on the way this weekend. It’s looking a lot like Christmas! And I’m glad I put up my Christmas lights already!

Thank you very much, Linda. Those clouds were so dark, bluish-black almost, and full of rain/snow, too! I hope you have time this weekend to enjoy the seasony views with the snow and your lights (when my children were little my weekends were incredibly busy). Cheers.
