We’re very definitely entering our grey, rainy season.

Sunny days are becoming rare; it’s more likely that we will only see glimpses or bits of pink or orange.

The bright and beautiful autumn colours helped alleviate the grey for a while, but there aren’t many of them left now.

They’re on footpaths and sidewalks, in parking lots and on benches, but soon they will be gone with the wind.

The ever hopeful ducks always gently approach looking for a little handout, and it’s always a treat to see them, whether it’s grey outside or not.

I used to give them quinoa which is a healthy choice for them, but the city has really made it very clear that they’re not to be fed unless there’s an unusual cold snap, and in that case they will do it. After all, they are sort of city pets.

Happy Monday.
Very nice sunset and duck pics.

It doesn’t matter how old you are, there is something totally charming about seeing the ducks.

I agree, Helen. They always approach so gently, usually murmuring a little bit, too. Very sweet.

Gorgeous photos Lynette. Yes, Winter is in its way as most of the colour has now gone and bare trees are everywhere. Don’t you just love the ducks? We have several families living on the river Wharfe at the bottom of our street 🙂

Thank you very much, James. 😊 We have sun and beautiful conditions here today (yay!) but we’re definitely headed for the grey, rainy season. I do love the ducks! We have a large flock that lives in one of the city parks; they really are community pets. Everyone loves them. 🦆

The poor ducks, but I understand the city’s point of view. Maggie

Yes, I feel quite sorry for them when they approach but I agree that it’s much better for them if they’re not fed, especially bread.

When most of the colour fades those mallards work wonders. The last duck looks like he misses the quinoa 😊. A lovely set of photos, Lynette!

Thank you very much, Belinda. 😊 I agree. Those green heads lend some colour to an increasingly grey-brownish landscape. I always feel sorry for them when they approach – who wants to eat cold bugs? 😉 but I’m following the directive.

I think of this as the life cycles of Earth.
The ducks are sooo cute! I love them.
My sister feeds birds frozen peas. So much better than bread which has nothing for them. Stay warm, happy Monday, Lynette!

Thank you very much; we’re not very cold. About 10C (50F). Oh yes, John, it sure is. Mother Earth does what she does.
The ducks are very cute and they always approach in such a gentle manner. Peas would definitely be a good nutritional choice for them but unfortunately most people don’t do that – they feed them bread instead which as you know isn’t good for them. I can understand why the city is really pushing for people to stop feeding them since there’s lots for them to eat, really. It doesn’t usually get very cold here and the ground doesn’t freeze.

Oh, now I remember you mentioning how how mild your winter is there. I’m glad that your city is trying to stop the folks who feed the animals, animals should never become dependent on humans to feed them.

Winter time is that time where you have to seek out any tiny blips of colour. They are there, but rare. Happy Monday Lynette. Allan

Beautiful captures. There’s not much colour left. And it’s looking rather drab and dreary outside. Today we’re supposed to get 5cm of snow!

Thank you, Linda. 5 cm? I’m glad my days of digging through snow to get out of the front door and the driveway are over. It’s raining here today but the overcast is right into the valley floor and I can vaguely see that it’s snowing lots in the mountains. So yes, very greyish-white here, quite monotone. The ski resorts will be happy, though.
