These are October pictures that I like but haven’t posted before as I chose to publish others from the same sets in more cohesive ways.

Petunias from a large pot on my deck; they’ve been beautiful all summer and are actually still blooming.

Yellowing ginkgo biloba leaves – I love the shape of them. Ginkgo biloba trees are ancient; they’re part of the fossil record.

A path through the Japanese Garden; I walk there probably two or three times a week. It’s peaceful, calming and beautiful.

The stages of autumn change are shown through a colourful ash tree, some dried ornamental grasses and in the foreground, grape vines.

This clump of dahlias looked particularly pretty against the blue sky.

Autumn is beautiful and can be beautifully surprising with its colours, skies, and often, lovely temperatures. There’s probably nothing better than sitting outside in comfortable, glorious autumn temperatures, the season settling and relaxing into a luminous winter.

Autumn…the year’s last, loveliest smile. ~ William Cullen Bryant
They are all very beautiful photos

Such a range of colour in autumn, as if nature is determined to spend its last few days of the annual season in a demonstration of its variety! Lovely shots, Lynette.

Thank you very much, Stuart. I agree; nature’s last few weeks and days are spent providing the most diverse, colourful and beautiful show of natural beauty. It’s such a lovely if short-lived time of year.

Beautiful pictures of beautiful colours, Lynette, and I love that final quotation

Thank you very much, Nellifant. I like that quote, too; all these colours do feel like autumn’s last and loveliest smile. Cheers.

I really should get petunias next year they are very cheerful and last for ages. And if I had that Japanese garden close to me I would also be visiting several times a week.

That garden is very close; only four minutes by foot. I love having it so nearby. And yes, the petunias have been wonderful. They grew and grew and produced so many pretty blooms all summer. Although the plant is now beginning to falter, it’s still blooming.

The more I see pictures like this, the more I want to live away from people!

I’m glad you like them, Jacqui. I’m an introvert and naturally tend to enjoy smaller numbers of people, so yes, areas that look like this are appealing. Cheers.

Quick! Quick! Find those last few October photos before we slide into November.

Yes, agreed. Our trees are starting to reach their colour peak so we have to picture them now!

Many of ours have already lost their leaves. We had a skiff of snow way up high in the hilltops across the valley overnight.

A few days ago we spotted a bit of snow up in the mountains to the south of us! It’s starting early, it seems. The odd tree is now denuded although most aren’t yet. That won’t last though with all the wind we’re getting!

Dear Lynette
We really like your ginkgo biloba leaves; beautifully photographed.
The German author Goethe wrote one of his most famous poems about the leaves of this tree. It’s about the oneness of lovers.
Wishing you a happy week

Hello Fab Four, thank you very much. 😊 Yes, I’m familiar with Goethe and that particular poem; I didn’t think of it when I was preparing this post though. Thank you; I wish you a good week also. Cheers.

Nothing wrong with a good mashup Lynette, especially when they include gingkos. Have a great day. Allan

Thank you very much, Allan. The ginkgos are such pretty trees. I’ll be ready with the camera when they turn that lovely buttery yellow; it will be soon now. You have a great day in NZ! Cheers.

I do as well, Carol. Very soon now they will turn a lovely, buttery yellow – doesn’t last long but they’re very pretty.

We are enjoying watching the rain fall today, at times torrential. Why can we not get some of this back home?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Probably because we’re getting it here! Lots of rain has been falling, pretty much daily at this point! I hope you get some soon, Allan.

That one with the grape leaves and grasses is fabulous. Sadly lost most of the leaves here over the last 2 days with some wicked winds.

Thank you very much, Bernie. 😊 I’m surprised that we haven’t lost all ours also since the winds here have been wicked, too. The kite-surfers have been enjoying it, though!

Such beauties. We have petunias out front that are still blooming too, but are starting to look a bit rough.

Yes, my petunias are still blooming but also look rough now. They were so pretty all summer long, though. The pot of impatiens are still doing incredibly well. Cheers.
