October Perspectives

We had a very hazy sunset that was followed by another wind and rain storm. At times the wind reached 80 km (50 miles).

It seems that this autumn, we have to enjoy its beauties while peering around or avoiding the storms.

I hope this means that the weather is blowing itself out and we will have a gentle little winter!

Happy Saturday.

  1. As long as there is time to grab some walking time and lovely fall vignettes, it is all good. Lots of rain in Vancouver too, but still none back home. Happy Saturday Lynette. Allan

    1. Thanks, Allan. That is very true! When there’s a bit of a slowdown, I drop what I’m doing and grab the opportunity. Yes, there’s an “atmospheric river” hitting Vancouver (we just helped a friend move there) but our weather here is coming from the south.

  2. Beautiful photos as always, Lynette! I think you are getting hit by the Atmospheric River that is hitting our west coast. That lake is like a magnet, I want to be there! ❤️☺️🇨🇦

    1. Thank you very much, John. 😊 Actually, we aren’t as the atmospheric river is hitting the coast and we are 300 km (186 miles) inland. Our weather is weirdly coming from the south! Luckily we have sun at the moment while Vancouver is still awash in rain. The two lakes are truly wonderful. 😊

      1. I see, that’s so nice and lucky too! Too much rain is never good. The river was hitting down here last year or the year before and it made our winter season a lot cooler than it would normally be. Bummer!

        1. Normally our weather comes from the west and we would have gotten at least the edge of the atmospheric river here, but not this time, apparently. We have been getting a lot of rain, much more than we need really while other parts of the country have a drought. Ugh.

          1. I see, and it’s unfortunate that there is drought there, many areas of the US are experiencing drought too including here in the southwest.

The monsoons did bring some relief to states south of Nevada, we got some rain but always need more.

The jet stream seems largely responsible for controlling where the rivers go but I could be wrong.

          2. Yes, the jet stream carries them up the coast from Central and South America. There are many other areas where these form. Around the Hawaiian Islands they’re called the “pineapple express.” Great name. 😊 Cheers.

  3. Beautiful. We haven’t had too many storms this fall either, which I’m thankful for as it means we’ve been getting to enjoy the fall foliage a bit longer. Many of the leaves have been falling like crazy this past week though.

    1. Thank you, Linda. Actually, our autumn weather hasn’t been great. Lots of wind, rain and cloud with the odd sunny day in between. It’s a wonder we have as many leaves left as we do since it’s been blowing so much!
