Marvellous Maples

The Canadian red maple trees are turning.

Ranging in autumn colour from light orange to fire engine red, these trees are very hardy and thrive in a wide variety of climate and soil conditions.

Although they look lovely throughout the year, they absolutely shine during autumn. There are groves, thickets and entire forests of red maples throughout this country which is one reason why they are our national symbol.

The other reason? They’re tough, hardy and resilient. 🇨🇦

Happy Thursday.

      1. Oooh, I don’t know French! I thought you might like to hear the old interval signal for RCI, I still listen to shortwave radio stations all these years later.

RCI went off the air several years ago due to budget cuts and switching to internet broadcasting. If you have an internet radio you can likely find them.

The transmitter site was in Sackville, NB. I have photos of the old transmitters and antenna site, its sad that its an era now gone. 😭🇨🇦❤️

        1. Yes, I recognised it right away! I put the English translation in brackets behind the French. 😊 I very much did enjoy hearing it again and yes, it’s now available through the internet. That is the sound of my childhood, John. Thank you very much. Radio Canada was the French version of CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) and I grew up in a French speaking household.
