Autumn Ash Trees

A couple of the ash trees in the nearby lakeside park are transforming into their beautiful autumnal colours. I’ve already posted a few photos showing one of them but I think they deserve a little more coverage.

The above shows October 2 and below shows October 8. This tree morphed along significantly in less than a week!

There are actually two of these trees next to each other; they are shown here from further down the lake.

There are some chairs on the beach near these trees because that portion of the lakefront has been set aside for dogs. Owners can sit comfortably – or not as the case may be – while their dogs swim, fetch and run.

Under these two ash trees is a covered bench; it’s separated from the dog beach by a fence but you can watch the dogs play or enjoy the lake view or both.

Happy Thursday.

  1. Such a gorgeous tree. Do you know which variety they are Lynette. We have green ash here and they are the last to get their leaves and usually the first to lose them. This year seems different. Happy Thursday. Allan

    1. Thanks, Allan. It’s a white ash. They’re endangered because of the invasive ash borer; there are a number of these trees in the park and all of them are regularly vaccinated (they wear a little tag). These flower in late April or so and the leaves follow quickly after that. Agreed; with climate change we’re seeing a lot of different behaviour among plants, trees, and everything else.

  2. Those ash are beautiful. I love the pictures of both from a distance. We have ash in our yard too, but they turn yellow. They also are the first to lose their leaves (and last to get them in the spring). Maggie

    1. They really are and there are a number of others in the same park that are still wearing their greens, so we have those to look forward to still. The ash trees that turn a vibrant yellow in autumn are green ash while the ones pictured are white ash. No matter the variety I love their beautiful shape. So pretty. Cheers.

    1. Yes, I like ash trees a lot. They’re such a lovely shape and then their autumn dress is so pretty. The dog beach is very popular as you can imagine and lots of people like to stop and watch the dogs having fun, too! 😊
