Can you believe it’s August already? Although it has been a very hot, humid and uncomfortable one for many of us, I hate to think of it as beginning a slide toward autumn. Nevertheless, there are still lots of flowers to enjoy and easily for the next couple of months.

The tea roses have been blooming like crazy, their faint rosy perfume quite detectable in the warm air …

… while the matador roses have been doing the same.

These are very ordinary, commonplace roses that will grow almost anywhere …

… but I do love seeing them lining footpaths and sidewalks. So pretty.
Happy Friday and happy August.
I’d forgotten it was the 1st. Happy August, Lynette!

You can never go wrong with roses. Wild, bush, tea or hybrid, they are all gorgeous. Happy August Lynette. Allan

Thanks, Allan. I think so, too. They are really at their height right now, the fancy ones as well as the tea roses. Important to enjoy them while we can! Cheers.

Beautiful blooms. I like common and ordinary things that are beautiful.

I agree. The tea and matador roses are everywhere right now and very hardy of course – I’ve seen the matador roses continuing to bloom in December – but yes, I find them so very pretty. Cheers.

Summer is speeding along but still more to come. Wonderful photos, Lynette! The matador rose is such a dazzling colour 😊

We have to make the most of what’s left of the summer, and your Friday posts remind us to notice what’s right in front of our noses. Roses!

Thank you very much, Anneli. We do have to make the most of it and remember to stop to smell the roses, too! 😊

Beautiful photos, Lynette. We’ve actually had a rather mild summer here with only a few days over in the 90s (30C). The last few days have been overcast and felt like autumn. I hope you’re having a wonderful day.

Ours locally has been quite mild as well. It’s only in the last 10 days that our temperatures have soared. High 30s (low 100s F) and dry is normal for us in July and August but this summer until recently has been a one-off with lots of rain and cooler. The humidity I mentioned is squatting over central Canada; I’ve heard that it’s been really bad. I think your Great Lakes states have horrible humidity as well. I am having a good day, thanks. 😊

Oh my, I hope it cools off soon. At least you’re getting some rain, which is so good. We’ve haven’t had any record breaking temperatures here yet, hopefully it will stay that way! 🤞Like you mentioned, other parts of North America are sweltering. Thanks, Lynette!

I hope so, too! The last couple of days have been like entering a blast furnace, but at least no humidity. Yes, I hope your weather continues to be mild. Cheers.

Beautiful plants and blooms. It was nice here this morning in the 60’s. But we are headed back to the 90’s and the humidity again in a few days.

All those blooms are from footpaths and public garden beds; the city does a pretty good job of keeping everything in good nick. 60s F is quite cool, yes? Humidity can be so awful and we at least don’t get it here (our heat is dry). The humidity I mentioned is over central Canada and the Great Lakes states where it’s very bad, I’ve heard. Ugh.

Humidity is very bad in here in Arkansas too. Ugh is a good way to describe it.

I hope your next wave of it doesn’t last long.

Me too August is usually our hottest month but since July was hotter than usual I am hoping for a cooler August.

I can’t believe it’s already August. Even though we haven’t gone anywhere since returning from NZ, this summer has just flown by. And it’s been a hot one here too. Thankfully it’s been less humid the past few days. Those tea and matador roses are beautiful.

I can’t, either; it just feels as if the spring and first half of summer have slipped away! We did a bit of travel during May and June and that seemed to speed things along too. Glad to hear that it’s been less humid for you, Linda. Humidity is so nasty.
