A windy day over Okanagan Lake …

… resulted in some lenticular cloud formation, a beautifully white counterpoint against the blue sky.

Happy Sunday.

Wet and wild, Lynette. It has been so windy this early summer. We rode our bikes 35 k yesterday, 1/2 of it into a 40 k/h wind. Then coming back, it seemed to hit is in the face from time to time. The clouds were beautiful, more mares tail than anything else. Happy Sunday. Allan

Thanks, Allan. Wow. You are windy and with shifting winds too, it seems. We only had the one day of it but the wind was strong enough that I took down my hanging plants. I didn’t need those upended! Once they started to calm a bit the cumulous clouds started moving in. Cheers.

You sent me to google to learn what “lenticular” means. My vocabulary is now wider than it was!

Yes, lens-shaped clouds that usually form near mountains. These were a bit visually unusual in that they were forming over the lake as the wind was blowing from west to east (an unusual pattern here) but the clouds were hitting eddies from the north-south orientation of the mountains. Provided a good opportunity to see them really well. Cheers.

I hope the wind is cooling the heat wave.

Not really as it didn’t last long. We’re back to 33-34 for the next few days, I think. Try to stay cool. 😎

Groan! I’m suffering with 29 or 30.

I don’t do very well with very much over 30, either, especially if there’s humidity. My internal temperature regulator is aging like the rest of me. 😏

Our A/C ran all day but now there’s a little breeze and the sun’s gone over the horizon to fry someone else.

Hahaha. 😊 That’s about the size of it! Yes, ours was going all day, too.

I love lenticular clouds; they look like spaceships. I hope you have a lovely Sunday!

Thank you very much. 😊 Yes, they definitely do. It’s thought that they were the inspiration for the idea of saucer-shaped alien craft (and for reports of alien visitations especially from the 1930s-1950s), so they sure would remind us of spaceships. Cheers.

Happy Sunday! It has been very warm, sunny–and windy as well where I live.

Hot dry wind isn’t my favourite, but I would rather have that than humidity!

Gorgeous landscape and great photos. I love the sea and the mountains. Happy Sunday.

Thank you very much, Thomas. 😊 This is actually a lake; a 135 km long fjord lake between two mountain ranges. I understand why you would think it’s a sea, though. It really looks like it could be.

That’s an interesting cloud formation. I would never have known it had a name!

Yes, pilots avoid them because they’re formed by very strong winds and could make a flight quite bumpy. Cheers.

The water definitely looks choppy. Love the cool cloud formations.

I do, too. We tend to get good ones here because of all the mountains. Cheers.
