The crystal clear Edith Lake is a sight to behold …

… especially when it glows a somnolent blue and turquoise on a warm, late afternoon …
Happy Thursday.

Thank you very much, Allan. That’s such a wonderful family tradition. At some point, maybe your little grandchild will be doing the same with you. Cheers.

Beautiful Lynette, it doesn’t look like the fire went through there. Maggie

It was mostly unscathed, Maggie. We did see a couple of places where the fire did some minor damage.

I have a feeling it’s pretty cold for swimming. Looks that way, anyway. Very beautiful though.

Oh yes! That water is mostly snow and glacial melt and we found ice on a couple of lakes, too. We dangled our feet in the water of Patricia Lake and it was seriously cold. Felt good though after hiking all day in hot weather!

I can just imagine – the kind of cold that hurts your arches like a big bite of ice cream can give you brain freeze.

Yes! Exactly like an ice cream headache! We watched a young guy do a running jump into that cold water and he had to get out quickly! Just about gave himself hypothermia; he was literally sort of blue-tinged when he got out. But the sun was warm so he wasn’t freezing for too long.

He was young enough to get away with it but he definitely gasped and shouted when he surfaced from that jump!

Yes, these are mountain lakes have snow and glacial melt feeding them. After a long hot day of hiking we did soak our feet in one and it was very cold! Felt good, though. 😊

That sounds so nice! A bout two years ago I drove south to Laughlin just to see the town and soaked my feet in the Colorado River, it was sooo cold!

Can’t do it for very long or you’ll have frozen tootsie pops!

Yes! I remember snowmobiling when I was young and so disliked having cold feet, something I still to this moment dislike.

Cold feet? Especially if it goes on for very long? Yes, one of the things I really dislike because then my whole body feels cold.

Yes, the intensity of the colour depends a lot on the sun. When the light is right, the colour is so gorgeous!
