The rhododendrons are starting …

… and the marmots are snacking …

… very different but equally sweet scenes.
Happy Sundays.

Definitely. Someone had just brought them a load of broccoli and lettuce which they love. They were happily crunching away. 😊

I wish they will share the lettuce to me.🤭🤩

They’re good at sharing with each other but probably not with humans. 😉

What do the marmots eat when not being fed by humans?

Hi Jude, they eat insects, clover, chick-weed, seeds, various grasses, and especially dandelions which are a favourite. They will eat the entire plant from roots to blossoms. Cheers.

I could do with one here! I have plenty of chick weed and dandelions 😂

Yes, they sure are. Everyone loves them. I would say that they basically are community pets. 😊

I’m glad the little guys stuck to their greens and left those beautiful flowers alone 😊. Lovely photos!

Thank you very much. 😊 There are lots of flowers starting nearby but the marmots don’t seem to have any interest in them. It could be that they are just very well fed!

You should turn that animal into a household pet! (Or, not!)

I don’t know that I would want marmots in my house – they love to dig burrows – but they certainly are community pets! Cheers.

“rhododendrons” odd name in blushing pink

It’s a very old Greek word meaning “rose tree.”
Yes, a lovely colour.

For sure! And definitely beats rain, wind and more rain (or possibly snow)! I hope your visit to NZ is going well. Cheers.

It’s going by way too quickly. We’re taking the ferry from the South Island to North Island tomorrow. Then we’ll be making our way back to Auckland to fly to Vancouver early May. Hard to believe our trip is coming to an end soon.
