What do the marmots eat when not being fed by humans?

Hi Jude, they eat insects, clover, chick-weed, seeds, various grasses, and especially dandelions which are a favourite. They will eat the entire plant from roots to blossoms. Cheers.

Thank you very much. 😊 There are lots of flowers starting nearby but the marmots don’t seem to have any interest in them. It could be that they are just very well fed!

I don’t know that I would want marmots in my house – they love to dig burrows – but they certainly are community pets! Cheers.

It’s going by way too quickly. We’re taking the ferry from the South Island to North Island tomorrow. Then we’ll be making our way back to Auckland to fly to Vancouver early May. Hard to believe our trip is coming to an end soon.
