Some scenes from a recent walk.

We had a moisture-laden snowfall that is now melting quickly in our rising temperatures. It’s squishy, sloppy and wet, but completely nothing, of course, compared to what much of the rest of the continent is experiencing. Good luck with that ongoing situation everyone, and I hope winter is finished snowing on you.

Much too wet to sit here …

… but rising temperatures and clearing skies are wonderful to see …

… and hopefully harbingers of springy things to come!
Happy Tuesday.
Your images are beautiful anyway. Happy Tuesday!

Glorious photos Lynette. It might take a bit longer, but spring is on the way. Happy Tuesday. Allan

Thanks, Allan. Yes, we’re definitely going to be slower this year, courtesy of La Niña, it seems. Apparently a cooler spring, too.

This morning it was -32C with -44C windchill here….so we drove West to Jasper and it is -8C feels like -8C. What a difference 4 hours can make.

Wow! That is a big difference! That Arctic air always comes sweeping through the prairies and often misses the mountains completely. Stay warm!

I hope you have good waterproof boots 😊 From -25 to +7 here, let the headaches begin. Maggie

I remember those crazy changes in temperature from my time in Alberta. Whiplash weather. Yes, some people get headaches from the pressure differential; I hope you escape this time. 🌸

+3 today and melting! I think we’re supposed to be getting rain later today.

Happy for you! We’re back to rain too, and I’m glad.

Thanks Anneli. Glad to hear you’re warming up as well. It wasn’t really all that cold when we got the snow; just below zero, but this is better!

We had -9 or -10 at times (overnight), but it didn’t last long. I’ll take the rain any day. Just don’t pay any attention to me when I gripe about it.

Yes, we got down that low, too. I think in some places further up the valley it down to -13 or -14. I agree that rain is better. I won’t pay any attention when you gripe about it. 😉

Ohh I love the second from last photo, Lynette, gorgeous! It;s very odd that Las Vegas will see 79 degrees by next week, and 66 today with daily increases in the temp. I hope this forecast holds true!

Thank you very much, John. 😊 That snow is almost gone as it has started raining. We’re supposed to get 10C (50F) or so by Friday or Saturday. That will be much better – great walking/hiking weather.

No snow is good in my opinion, I hope you get to hike!

It’s nice to see some early signs of approaching spring, especially in your last photo! We’re still buried under mountains of snow 😒

You have truly been walloped! It’s amazing much snow you’ve gotten and how fast, too. I hope you don’t have to shovel and chop ice. We have a light rain falling now which is supposed to get heavier but it feels like we’re going to be slow this year (well, we already are). As long as it arrives, though!

We’ve forgotten how much we used to get. Our car is parked in a nice warm garage and will stay put until the roads are in better shape. I hope your thaw continues 😊

Thank you, Belinda. 😊That’s so true! I remember giant piles of snow all through my childhood and early adulthood, too. Climate change has had a huge effect and we’ve so quickly become accustomed to the easier winters even though they’re not healthy for the environment. I agree about leaving the car in the garage – I would, too!

I think winter is pretty, as your pictures portrayed. I couldn’t get over how today I went outside with the dog in 7 degrees (-13.8c) and I wasn’t even cold! I sat in an outdoor chair in the blinding sun, breathed in the refreshing air, and listened to windchimes. Three inches of snow on the ground, so with the clear sky, it really is blinding.

Thank you very much. 😊 It definitely can be, and we’re lucky here in the sense that if we want cold and snow, we can go into the mountains. It sounds like you had a really beautiful late winter day where you can begin to feel spring’s imminent arrival. Soon the snow will melt and the first robins will arrive!

The snow looks pretty. I don’t mind walking in it, except when it’s slushy and wet. It’s a good test to see whether your winter boots are waterproof though!

Hahaha. 😊 Yes, a check on the boot waterproofing! That snow is all gone; it didn’t last long as it was very wet and then we had some drizzly rain. I don’t like that squishy snow either!
