Hope …

… for the very, very beginning of spring?

Fingers crossed! And although I know that February can be temperamental, I take encouragement from the fact that temperatures are up, the wind is down, and the ice encrustments?

Those are starting to melt.

To everyone who lately experienced those huge snowfalls and wicked temperatures, I wish you very prompt blue skies and controlled – because of all that snow – meltings.

Happy Sunday.

    1. We have been hovering around -1, 0, and +1 Celsius (I think that’s about 30-34F) which is a usual winter temperature for us, but we’re somewhat late, too. Usually we’re much warmer by this point in February. I agree, Sue, I’ve had enough and would like to see spring now!

    1. Crazy whiplash weather! I saw that you are very, very cold now and then expected to get much warmer temperatures a week from now. We had some snow overnight but it’s supposed to start melting this afternoon as we’re in the -1, 0, +1 zone. I hope you can hunker down with warm drinks and comfort food!

  1. The east side of the US is again getting hammered by horrid weather. Very sad for these folks. 😭 64 today and 74 coming soon here, let spring spring!

    1. Yes, the entire eastern part of the continent seems to be getting completely walloped! Toronto is getting more snow this week than it did all of last winter. I agree that it’s time for spring to emerge!

We still hope for some snow and really cold weather we love. Minus 10 C (14 Fahrenheit) is for us, a real winter temperature. When we are at home in Norway, Finnland and Northern Sweden, we enjoy real winters. February is usually the coldest month with lots of snow.

    1. I have enjoyed very cold winters in the Northwest Territories where winter temperatures averaged -35C but since retirement I live in a very temperate part of the country – the Okanagan Valley – that is financially somewhat dependent on wine grapes and peach, cherry and apricot orchards, so cold winters are unwelcome here. But we’re also seeing the effects of climate change with quite erratic weather at times, too. By February we’re usually starting to see a few nascent signs of spring but it’s behind this year. Cheers, Klaus.

    1. There was, but we got a little snow last night! However the temperature is working its way up so I don’t think it’s going to last very long.

I’ve looked at videos and I’m wondering the same – where will they put it? It’s going to be a mess for a bit probably. Ugh.

    1. It’s unbelievable how much snow arrived in your area and so fast, too. We’re actually already late and I do think that we will be later still. We’re getting some springy signals but they’re weak. It could be that just as quickly as the snow arrived, spring could arrive, too. Cheers.
