We have had a lot of wind, very cold, and with the odd spritz of rain or teeny bit of snow …

… but it has been sunny and that has helped a lot.

Nevertheless this wind really has a mind of its own. Rattling windows and bare branches and trying to grab my scarf or car door, there’s a lot of discontent in its undulating wintery sighs and moans.
Happy Weekend.
It looks jolly cold, Lynette! Happy weekend!

-5C (23F), Jo, but the wind makes it feel so much worse. We are supposed to go back above 0 in the next few days. On the other hand, the weather in the north’s major city, Yellowknife, is -22C (-8F)!

I think I’d spend a lot of time indoors, Lynette xx

It’s tempting, but at my age I’ve got to keep my remaining fitness in place, so I dress in layers and get going. 😊

A bitterly cold wind from the east is on its way here this weekend. But so far the sky is blue and the sun is shining which makes such a difference.

I agree, Jude, having sun really makes cold weather so much easier to tolerate. When I lived in Northwest Territories, there was so much cold and snow but very often there was sun, too. So helpful to one’s mood!

Thanks, Tricia. It does. Ripping at our jackets and trying to steal our toques! 😊

It’s been very windy here this winter, and not all Chinook winds either. Stay warm! Maggie

Thanks, Maggie. When I lived in Medicine Hat I enjoyed those chinook winds, particularly after it had been -25 or whatever. Agreed; it does seem to be an unusually windy winter.

The winds here this winter have been relentless, but yesterday, it was fairly calm and got up to -7C. The perfect day for a 6 km walk. Syill a lot of winter left. Sighhh. Happy Friday. Allan

Thanks, Allan. Yes, a lot of winter left. Ugh. It seems that we are having a particularly windy winter; lots of people complaining about it. Glad to hear you’re warmer and enjoyed a good walk. We’re at -3 right now but that wind feels like -20. Stay warm!

The photo is like a thermometer. I can feel the cold.

It is, isn’t it? Burrr. 🥶 That wind is so nasty, ugh.

The wind makes all the difference. Your blue emoticon really tells the story.

The blue emoticon is effective, isn’t it? I’m finding that a good windbreaker is really what I need in this weather (with a good fleece under) because the wind seems to cut through everything but my big NWT parka, and that’s much too hot for this weather.

I usually don’t mind the cold, except when it’s windy-cold. A bitter wind sucks the life out of refreshing, crisp air. Hold on, Lynette. 💨

Thanks, Lori. 😊 I agree. Standing cold is so much easier to deal with than windy cold!

Thank you very much. 😊 I agree, Belinda. It’s really so brilliant in a sort of crystalline way. Cheers.

We’ve gone from the exquisite beauty of heavy frost to the kind of damp, drizzly grey that goes straight through your bones. I’m ready for spring now…

We have had a lot of heavy overcast and rain, too, and then that extremely cold wind. At least it was sunny. This morning we’re at -2C with a real pea soup ice fog. I agree with you, I’m ready for spring now.

I carry a few extra pounds so the wind doesn’t blow the car door into me and break my arm! Wind and windchill are my two least favourite weather elements.

I’m carrying a few extra as well, but I’m afraid it’s not planned. 😉 I agree, Bernie. I would much rather deal with pre-flighting an aircraft on the apron in Iqualuit at -45C than deal with gales of wind, even if it’s a lot warmer. Ugh.

Oh, my extra pounds aren’t planned or wanted! But i looked after 2 very frail elderly patients. Each one had a door blow into them in the wind and they broke hips. I told my GP I was just protecting from that!

I love these pictures, Lynette – and I can just picture your scarf flying and the feel the wind behind the car door!

Thank you very much, Barbara. 😊 It’s so annoying trying to get in and out of the car with the groceries while the wind is trying to take the door and my coat … 😉
