Happy Solstice

On the shortest day of the year, I wish you Happy Solstice!

From here on, the days get longer, much longer.

While I find the mist and overcast lustrously beautiful in its own way …

… I much prefer spring.

Happy Sunday; it’s a tiny bit longer this week.

  1. Happy Solstice indeed Lynette. Yesterday after a week of cold, snowy grey weather, we finally saw the sun and got to +4C. The sunshine makes such a difference and while it will take some time, the daylight hours will get longer. Happy Sunday. Allan

    1. Thank you, Allan. They are definitely going to get longer going forward! Yay! Glad to hear you escaped your cold, grey snow and got a bit of sun. We have been getting lots of rain – on my walks I can see the moss literally growing before my eyes – and around +5 or so. We are supposed to get sun tomorrow though, all day! Cheers.

        1. While I was still working in the north, M spent a lot of time watching the real estate for (what would become) our place as we knew we wanted to be in this area. We found the right one for us and consider ourselves very fortunate. I walk on the waterfront that I frequently show in pictures almost every day. I can’t imagine not finding it beautiful, even when it’s overcast and raining as it was yesterday. 😊 Cheers.

          1. We’ve had a lot of rain since the beginning of November, too. Not at all a bad thing since the Okanagan was experiencing such a drought. But yes, seeing the sun after days of overcast and rain is definitely a treat!

    1. For sure! Cheers. 🥂 Agreed; we have to get through January and February but the days are going to get longer – yay! We have sun today but are supposed to get wall-to-wall rain for the rest of the week. Got to get through that, too!

      1. Ugh. It’s looking like we’re going to have a white Christmas thanks to some snow yesterday. It’s supposed to warm up quite a bit over the next few days and the forecast is calling for rain over the weekend though.

        1. I hope you don’t have to do much shovelling! At least you’re not going to be getting the amount of snow falling in the east or the rain falling in the west. We’re apparently going to be walloped with rain and wind and lots of snow in the mountains.

          1. My neighbour just bought a snowblower and has been eager to test it out. He kindly offered to blow out our driveway. Who was I to ruin is fun!? Hopefully you’re able to enjoy some calmer weather soon.

          2. That’s perfect – what a great neighbour! We were prepared for a couple of bad days but as it turned out the wind and rain didn’t get this far – just some overcast. Vancouver and the Island got hammered, though.
