Right now we have a major storm blowing through which is certainly not unexpected in November. The best part is that here in the valley bottom we’re only getting rain, no flakes! I was going to post a picture of our very misty and overcast surroundings, but decided otherwise. We’ll be seeing lots of that soon enough! Here’s one from a couple of days ago when the weather was much better.

And just because it’s so beautiful, here’s one of a lace leaf maple, shining in its glorious autumn dress.

And last but not least, since it’s rather chilly, dark and rainy with lots of snow falling in the mountains, I’ll leave you with this tranquil scene.

Happy Sunday and if you’re in the storm zone, stay warm!
The maple is worthy a photo! Happy Sunday and stay safe.

How lovely! Thanks for sharing. Supposedly we have the s-word on the way, but my garden still has flowers blooming. Strange old world…

You’re welcome, Barb. We don’t usually get snow here (it snows in the mountains) and the temperature doesn’t go much below zero if at all, so seeing flowers in a bit of a confused state isn’t unusual. That said, we’ve had lots of strange weather over the last couple of years, though …

We’ve just come through a stormy patch, but our temperatures are still mild. That maple is fabulous!

The lace leaf maples really put on quite a show! Yes, our temperatures are still mild as well but the wind and rain were intense!

Three beautiful photos. The maple is stunning. We have a cold front coming but for now it’s still calm.

Thank you very much, Jude. The lace leaf maples are so incredibly red, especially when the sun shines on them. We’re calm this morning as well but another storm is on the way apparently.

The colour of the lace leaf maple is stunning! It definitely helps brighten things up when it’s gloomy outside.

They are so intensely red when the sun shines on them and they seem to hang on to their leaves longer than other trees or bushes. They turn from red to purple before dropping their leaves completely, so their transition is beautiful. Agreed – they definitely brighten an overcast day.

We’re having a very untypical November, sunny and very dry. Your photos are lovely, the quiet before the storm!

Thank you very much, Belinda. 😊 We had that last year up until the middle of January, and then got walloped by a week of intense cold (it went to -20 here which broke records) that killed all the stone fruit buds and really affected the wine grapes and cherries as well. This year seems to be following a more routine weather pattern which I hope remains stable for the farmers. Climate change. Ugh.

I remember you writing about that devastating weather pattern. Let’s hope this year is more typical!

Still a soft autumn look. Nice to see some breaks in the clouds. It bucketed down here yesterday and may do so again today and tomorrow. Happy Sunday Lynette. Allan

Thanks, Allan. We had buckets here, too, and a real howler of a day! The overcast was almost completely down to the valley floor. We have sun this morning and everything looks dry but the forecast says that we’re going to get more. Apex and Big White are apparently very happy with their snow accumulations! Cheers.

I like the red leaves, but it’s the other two photos that I find really amazing. So beautiful!

That lace leaf maple is stunning! The trees have held onto their color where I live–longer than they usually do. No snow yet, either–but rain and temps in the 50s during the day.

The lace leaf maples really know how to put on quite a show before their winter rest! We have definitely had a slow, lovely autumn with very comfortable temperatures, too, but that seems to be ending. We have sun this morning but another rain storm is apparently on the way. I’m happy to see the snow stay in the mountains! Cheers.

That maple is a magnificent shade of red; wow! It’s rainy and a little windy here today, maybe the calm before the storm. Happy Sunday Lynette!

Thank you very much, Tricia. Those maples know how to put on a show! They’re so impressive, especially in the sun. We had sun this morning but as the forecast indicated, by noon it was raining again. No wind, just heavy overcast and rain. It was very dark all afternoon. As long as it’s not snow, though!
