Is It Spring or Autumn?

After our blustery, rainy series of days, the weather cleared up and today we had sun. It in fact felt a bit spring-like …

… except for the autumn colours …

… and the fact that we apparently have another storm on the way that will probably be making the skiers very happy. There’s supposed to be a lot of snow in the mountains but falling as rain here in the valley which suits me just fine!

Happy weekend.

    1. Thanks, Allan. We had a great day yesterday, too. It was fun watching everyone out, lots of dogs and children running around, but today I am watching the mist moving quickly down into the valley. There’s lots of snow in the passes and it looks like the ski hills are going to be very happy this year! But yes, you’re right, autumn is very changeable. Cheers.

  1. Lovely photos, Lynette! It does look very cold and winter-y in the first photo. You must be getting hit by those atmospheric rivers really hard up there, they beat us up good last winter. So much high wind and rain. Just 59F for the high here today, br!

    1. Thank you very much, John. 😊 Actually, the first photo shows the clearing that started; we then had a beautiful day, very sunny and spring-like. We don’t really get those “rivers” since they are so affected by the Coast Mountain range in particular. We tend to get the end of them rather than the full menu! We’re back with rain today but in the mountains it’s snow, so that’s going to make the ski hills operators very happy! Cheers.

      1. Oh, okay, that is like how the Sierra Nevada range well west of Las Vegas blocks a lot of bad weather that California is getting hit with. Thanks, California!

        1. Yes, mountains can force the clouds up their slopes, causing them to discharge the moisture they’re carrying. That’s why one side of a mountain range can be very lush while the other side is dry. So yes, California is keeping you sunny! 😊

  2. Spring or autumn? Hard to tell from the lake photo but the leaves tell the story. We’re heading into yet another week of wind and rain, but with temperatures dropping closer to freezing. Definitely sliding into the dark time of the year too.

    1. That picture shows a clearing sky that then turned into quite a gorgeous day, but we’re back in the rain today with snow in the passes and mountains. We are still well above freezing here in the valley which suits me just fine, though. Same, Anneli, it’s very overcast and dark here too. I’m cozying up to hot chocolate and good soups!

    1. They sure have been, but I think this weekend may be the end! We have a major storm coming through with lots of high wind and serious overcast. Visibility is very low. The only good thing is that here in the valley we’re getting rain but in the mountains it’s a blizzard. 🥶

    1. Yes, the leaves definitely give it away! We had a big storm come through yesterday and although we have sun today, we apparently have another one on the way. It’s that time of year and I have my rain gear ready!
