Leaves

There have been lots of leaf pictures around WP as we’ve progressed through autumn. And why not? It’s such a beautiful time of year and many people quite enjoy the colours and cooler temperatures. So herewith are some recent leaf collections.

A leafy park bench.
Honey locust trees.
Bedraggled maple leaves.
A garden bed strewn with colourful cast-offs.

And last but not least, our weather has been rather more wintery than autumny …

A view of a very restless and moody Skaha Lake. I managed to avoid the rain that arrived a bit later.

… so it’s best to enjoy our remaining leaves while we can!

Happy Thursday.

    1. Thank you very much, Tricia. I agree that the colours this year are beautiful; last year they were kind of bland because of all the heat we continued to get even into December. We’re also getting rain which has been badly needed, so this a good autumn.

  1. I love your photos. Autumn and spring are my favourite seasons. The colour that transforms our streets and parks and woodland never fails to uplift and inspire me as nature puts on her spectacular end-of-year finale. I struggle with winter – the dark days, bleakness and brown everything – so I like to savour and soak up autumn whilst it’s here. Thanks for sharing, and have a good day 🙂 Aiva xx

    1. Thank you very much, Aviva. 😊 I love spring and autumn also; they’re so beautiful and I try to enjoy them down to the last leaf and petal. Unfortunately, winter is upon us, though. I make a point of noticing its best features such as its lustrous silver skies during an invigorating walk and then coming inside to hot chocolate and cozy warmth. But even so, spring is definitely a much welcomed arrival!

  2. Hard not to find a colourful shot in the autumn. Even harder to avoid the rain in Vancouver these days, but we are managing to do it. I bet there are not many water skiers out on the lakes in your area these days. 🙂 Happy Thursday Lynette. Allan

    1. Thanks, Allan. I’m managing to avoid the rain too, but I think that’s somewhat easier to do here than Vancouver. Even so, I’m not going to complain since we’re still in need of it. Nope, no water skiers but a couple of days ago I saw several kite surfers out on Skaha. They were wearing suits but it was seriously brisk out! Just looking at them made me feel chilly. Burrr … 🥶

    1. The community where I live is one of two in world that’s situated between two lakes (the other is Interlaken, Switzerland): Skaha Lake to the south and Okanagan Lake to the north. This picture is of Skaha, which is the smaller, southern lake. The mountains shown aren’t very far away; only about 10 km (approx 6 miles) at the other end of the lake. Cheers.

    1. Thank you very much, Linda. We’ve had a very lovely autumn but I intend to enjoy every bit of it before it’s gone and I start looking for the first signs of spring. I used to enjoy leaf raking and then coming inside for a hot chocolate or other hot drink. It always felt so cozy – and I felt virtuous for getting the raking done!
