The sun starts to go down quite early now. I was out for my regular afternoon ramble and to my surprise – I really shouldn’t have been – saw the sun beginning its sink at 3:22 p.m. Given that we have mountains all around, we are totally dark by about 4:30. My, that really is early!

The sunset felt wintery, too. The thin, veil-like cloud, the slight chill from the wind and the tint of the sunset itself all contributed to that sense.

But it’s November. A little bit of a wait, but I’ll nevertheless soon be counting down to spring!
Happy Saturday.
That’s so lovely! Happy weekend, Lynette!

It is a lovely sunset, although in November. Happy Saturday!

Thank you. I agree; it was a good one even though it’s November. Cheers. 😊

Beautiful captures. That is really early for the sun to set. I don’t mind the fall and winter, but I just wish we had a bit more daylight.

Thank you very much, Linda. Because we have mountains all around, the sun disappears behind them so much earlier. We have switched to standard time which means we have good light in the mornings though which I think is better especially where children are concerned. Cheers.

Winter is in the air where I live too. But I’ll continue to enjoy autumn for as long as it lasts. It’s my favorite season.

Me too, Neil. I love autumn as well and am going to hang on as long as possible. We still have lots of green leaves on the trees, so I hope that we’ll have a long, slow one. Cheers.

Such short days already! Sometimes it’s good though…that feeling of snuggling in behind drawn curtains and feeling cosy.

We have switched to standard time and have lots of morning light, but with the mountains all around, the sun does disappear behind them quite early. I agree, the darkness does invite snuggling in and feeling cosy. Cheers.

It does look chilly but the setting sun does give the landscape a warm glow. These are lovely, Lynette! I will be joining you in the countdown to spring 😊

Thank you very much, Belinda. I think I might already be counting down but I’m trying not to think that way! I loved how warm the sun looked reflected on the lake but there’s still a chilly overtone. I guess we can’t escape that it’s November.

I’ll begin the countdown to spring at the end of this month 😏. In the meantime it’s cold and sunny and no snow…

Yes, I’ll probably hold off until then, too! Depending on how you feel about it, no snow can be a good thing. I’d definitely rather have rain!

Beautiful photos, Lynette! DST needs to be ended, it’s dark here at about 4:45. Kinda ridiculous, isn’t it?

Thank you very much. I agree, John. Nail the time down to standard and leave it there. We have switched from DSL to standard now and have lots of morning light which is so much better for people going to work and kids going to school. We do lose the sun early but that’s also partly because we’re in the mountains and the sun is so low in the sky. Cheers.

The mountains west of me shadow my place at that time of day, but DST really needs to vanish.

I’m definitely with you on DST. Stop messing with the clocks and our circadian rhythms!

Bleak but with a touch or warmth Lynette. I am with you, winter is just an intermission between autumn and spring. Have a great weekend. Allan

Thank you very much. I like how you have described that, Allan; winter definitely is an intermission between autumn and spring. There’s still some warmth but it’s really beginning to look and feel winterish.

This is a beautiful combination of warm and cool colours.

It was definitely a beautiful sunset but there was an edge, too, so yes, a cool and warm combination.

Pretty sunset. Yes I find when we are skiing the sun sets so early. Those darn mountains 😉.

Fir sure! Yes, the autumn and winter mountain days are definitely shorter, but I’m willing to put up with that to live among them. 😊

I know that our sun will be setting earlier and earlier, but not as early as yours does. The photos are beautiful and wistful and so very still.

Thank you very much, Ally. Because the sun slips behind the mountains our autumn and winter days are decidedly shorter. Still, I love living in the mountains; it’s a small price to pay. 😊

Your first photo with the stark, autumnal branches framing the mountains and setting sun is beautiful. It’s getting dark here quite early as well. Winter is imminent.

Thank you very much Tricia. Of the two I like that one best also. Yes, winter is imminent. I hope it’s a more normal (not sure I know what that means any more though) one this time – lots of rain and cool but not cold temperatures. Our orchards and wine grapes need to survive!

Lovely sunset. To be honest it is dark here too by 16h30.

I used to live in the subarctic where the daylight hours are much shorter, so this is a definite improvement, but I still don’t like 16:30 sunsets!
