Japanese Garden Tour

The Japanese Garden is very pretty all year as it cycles through the seasons, but right now it’s decked out in autumn loveliness.

Rhododendron and azalea bushes.
Japanese “Fullmoon” maple.

Across the pond.
The koi are still active although they’re beginning to slow down and will soon go into dormancy.
Ginkgo biloba leaves festoon a hedge bush.
A last look.

Happy Tuesday.

    1. I know that a lot of planning went into this garden together with Penticton’s sister city in Japan, Ikeda (it’s known as the Ikeda Japanese Garden). There is a reciprocal “Penticton” garden there. Given how well it’s laid out, I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that the autumn colours were taken into consideration during planning. I love walking through it at any time of year. Cheers.

    1. I love this garden and walk through it frequently. Yes, the koi are very popular; everyone stops to look at them. Apparently, carp can continue to grow all their lives; some of them in this pond are about 10 years old, according to a gardener I chatted with recently.

    1. Very true. Sort of reminds you of Winnie the Pooh’s “It’s the first day of autumn! A time of hot chocolatey mornings, and toasty marshmallow evenings, and, best of all, leaping into leaves!” Glorious place for leaves 🙂

    1. Yes, it’s very close, about five minutes. I frequently walk through it and always find it relaxing and serene. It’s probably at its best in spring and autumn but it’s lovely during summer and winter, too. 😊 Cheers.
